They (the writers and producers) must have assumed it was understood that Trinity killed Rita. Someone asked this exact question at Comicon in 2010 and the writers, producers, and actors all just laughed. Go to approximately 50:23 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrNbQE2I5fg&t=2404s

Interesting fact, no spoilers, it's never actually revealed and verified that Trinity is who killed Rita. Someone could have easily copied Trinity's modus operandi the way Christine Hill copied the vacation murderers when she shot Lundy and Deb. Who coulda done it then? It could have been Elliot the neighbor Rita kissed, or one of Trinity's kids, basically anyone that has a reason to be upset with Rita or Dexter. It even could have been Miguel's wife. It's fun to play with the thoughts, it is never revealed Trinity really killed Rita it's just assumed and accepted since the MO is the same. It could have something to do with the new season that's coming and supposed to be the last season.

We’ve been getting a lot of requests for the two Haunting shows. I thought it might be too much to do 10 hours of a scary story but the Mrs says let’s do it. Just need to free up the schedule.

There’s definitely only 5 stages of grief. Hill House fans know what i am talking about 😉 speaking of The Haunting of Hill House, y’all should check it out! it’s a fantastic horror/drama series! Only 10 eps. I feel as if The Mrs. would enjoy the family aspect of it all! Back to Dexter, I feel as if this season is criminally underrated and under-appreciated. It gets a lot of hate and is known for “when Dexter started to go down-hill.” Love to know what your opinion on this season is and I can’t wait for y’alls on-screen thoughts. There being no time-jump this season opener really allowed the such raw emotions that the aftermath of Rita’s death had on everyone to be portrayed. I feel as if a time-jump would have been such a cop-out and a disrespect to Rita’s innocent and loving character! It is super depressing and I totally get why she would have wanted that however 😔

I really love how they made us go through the whole thing. Some sows just show death scenes , the funerals and then the effects after, but here we got all the in betweens, it makes for good emotionally thrilling TV.

Yeah. Absolutely. Still stings.

True!

We've both never seen Six Feet Under. Was looking for it on bluray. Not sure if its in HD.

If you haven't seen Six Feet Under (MCH first series just previous to Dexter), he plays a funeral director and the funeral home scenes are such a callback.

Yes, he did kill a married woman in a tub. His very first victim 30 years ago was married. Her husband was wrongly convicted. But they didn't have children

Let's face it, the writers wrote the older kids "out" to ease the writing for Dexter's character. Hard enough juggling single fatherhood with a baby but with 3?

I'm sorry ahead of time. He was in remission BEFORE they started filming this season. Different cancer. His dad had prostate and MCH had Hodkins Lymphoma. 5 is also one of my favorite seasons. By season 6 MCH's hair grew back - curly. I loved it.

We needed these carthatic moments. Heart wrenching. I'm so glad Dexter realized that he loved Rita.

Michael was going through chemotherapy during this season. His father passed away at the same age he was when he was battling it of the same kind of cancer. I can't imagine how difficult it was to film during this time and he did an amazing job. He also found a good friend and confidant in John Lithgow during this time who cried during Michael's acceptance speech at the golden globes. Pretty heartwarming moment if you have the chance to check out the video on YouTube. This ended up being one of my favorite seasons actually.

Nicole McAlpine

Shows his incredible acting skills even in real life!

Hellraezer

Hall didn't tell anyone about his cancer during this season.

Hellraezer

Fun fact:

When Dexter's saying "goodbye" to Rita, man that moment is always heart wrenching for me. Also, Michael C. Hall is just a genius actor. When he's screaming in the bathroom, so much raw emotion.
