Seriously though, I love how you're taking a leaf out of these primal myths (Psyche, Persephone...) and giving it a fresh spin from the pov of said bemoaning relative.

As someone who left a truly toxic family, I’d love a big ol god to protect my space for as long as I needed. I don’t want those folks to come looking for me, no matter how badly they feel about what they did. Aisling doesn’t need to talk to Gwen to decide her own fate or to heal. I love Gwen but she’s doing this for herself now. She knows Aisling is safe. She needs to respect her choice and not press. Aisling will return of her own volition or she won’t. Ludyc is right to let Aisling continue to have her space. Trauma is complex and it’s possible a god might have a cosmic insight which Gwen does not possess… Basically, it’s not his responsibility to tell Aisling that Gwen is searching for her. He’s doing what Aisling asked. I think it’s cool she has someone looking out for her finally, someone who’s not motivated by power (he’s already got it) or who wants to use her.

To me it reads like she finally decided to go "no contact" with her family to save herself from a toxic situation and protect her peace of mind. Not everything is black and white, toxic people usually love the people they're hurting. Doesn't mean they should have access to them anymore. Gwen is the sibling that is still in the toxic situation, wondering why the other sibling left. And actively trying to bring them back. Blaming them leaving on a scapegoat (Ludyc) when really the reason is their family.

In a space free from all and any information, or interference that may or may not influence her choice. If all she wanted was somewhere no one could talk to her, maybe hes following her wishes in not telling her anything. We dont know what she asked for. Maybe she asked to not be told people are looking for her cause she knows it would bother her. All we know are what Ludyc and Gwen are saying. I didnt hear anyone ask, "what did Aisling ask of you?" Or "does she even 'want' to talk to anyone other then Ludyc, whom seems to see only a lovely lady, not a tool.

2025-04-16 16:24:54 +0000 UTCHe's not completely wrong: Gwen is looking for Aisling to make sure she's ok, but she's also heavily motivated by her guilt in interfering with Aisling and Kalan's marriage. Ludyc operates on blue/orange morality, so to his eyes, not telling Aisling that Gwen is breaking down his door to see her is, to his logic, keeping Aisling from feeling pressured into doing "the right thing". For Aisling's choice to no longer be in conflict, either a) Faustus has to actually die and someone reasonable take over Llaena so that Dyflynn is secure without marriage diplomacy or using Gwen, or b) Eamonn has to bite it since this whole mess was like 95% his fault anyway

I do see his points - just because Aisling didn’t be in love with Kalan, it could’ve felt really bad to see them together, even with the fact that she had that choice specifically for Gwen, to have a life.

Hopefully once a decision is made what she's 'forgotten' will come back and she can explain why she felt the need to run away. I know she sacrificed a lot in order for Gwen to no longer be used as a child soldier, and that's probably not all she's had to go through.

They seem very possible from what we know, but there is so much that Gwen can't know at this point... Gosh, these girls have so much to talk about. I think even if Aisling stays, Gwen would want to hear it from her, and not the god who is her keeper - again, we don't know in what sense. I'm veeery interested what all this will lead to 👀

He knows Aisling might make a different choice should he tell her that Gwen is looking for her with all she's got, and he doesn't want himself to be the catalyst of that, and even if he means it in a totally selfless way (which i doubt tbh, from the "well sucks to be you, if she chooses me over you" tone he just dished there, but that's my opinion), he is still depriving her of an informed choice. Aisling might be thinking no one would miss her anyway, which is untrue.
