The way he did it in this scene is maybe a little heavier than usual, but it's okay. What had struck me was the lack of reaction to Kalan's obvious discomfort, but Franky's explanation makes sense of course.

He has a confusing response to people cos they often have a confusing response to him and he likes to try to scare them off before he has to become attached and then confront them being scared off by what he is.

2024-08-29 06:18:08 +0000 UTCI have a question, I hope it's not taken the wrong way, because it is simple curiosity. Aleksei do come off a little bit like, insensitive, in this scene. Which makes total sense from a narrative point of view and for comic relief, but this is not the first time this has happened -for example, when Gwenston told him her story- and there is almost never anything in Aleksei's subsequent behavior that suggests that he has understood the weight of the words his interlocutor has given him and respects it, even if externally he does not manifest it. I wonder if this is a strong character trait of Aleksei? Something that exists for a reason and will be explored later? Or perhaps a trait that unknowingly makes him more like his father than he would like?

Which set Gwen off on her quest to get her back because she feels guilty for sleeping with Kalan behind Aisling (spelling?) back. It's unclear to me whether Aisling wanted to go to Ludyc's realm or is being psychologically manipulated to stay there.
