Gon's reunion with Leorio is such a beautifully portrayed moment, it gets me emotional every damn time.

Just 3 episodes. What a journey it's been. And don't be afraid to share your thoughts, What you are alluding to has been a subject of a lot of discussion within the community as well.

Feels surreal that we are almost at the end of this long journey... This episode is just beautiful.

Jay

I love this arc for many reasons, but Leorio is truly one of the reasons, because he has little screentime I see takes about how Leorio has no characterisation or character development at all and it baffles me because a lot of it is subtextual. He became a hunter because his friend died and he was powerless, he succeeded at becoming a hunter and started studying to become a doctor, he was finally making progress towards making sure he could help people and it would never happen again. Then suddenly Gon is in critical condition and he can do absolutely nothing to help him, the feelings of helplessness he had at this must have been immense. He put in so much effort and finally thought he had succeeded just to be put right back in a situation where he was helpless again. Luckily for him Gon lived and turned out ok, but he was not the one who helped him, once again he was powerless.

the credit for this episodes fantastic character supervision can basically all go to standout animation director Tomoko Mori. She's probably the best on the entire series and is also to thank for the greatness of 131's drawing quality

Every time I see anything from this arc I'm always in awe of Cheadle's voice actress, ESPEEEECIALLY a certain scene next episode. Just so much range on display while the back of my mind is screaming "she's PIKACHU"

Great Reaction x Analysis! - "All according to keikaku" - Pariston Hill / Light Yagami - There is that one shot of the room getting built in the park lot of the hospital and the hunter association HQ appears also in that shot, it shows the distance between them, however we didn't know what it was at the time.

Re-watching these final episodes, it makes me remember my original more subdued feelings on my first watch, and suddenly realizing just what this arc really was. After the long brutality of the Chimera Ant arc, we finally see this moment. To see Gon like this, healed, after how tragic his stint through the previous arc was. Leorio being a surrogate for the audience. Sticking up for Gon and giving Ging a piece of his mind. Pleading for Gon to be healed. And finally being able to see Gon as a kid again. And not the Gon stricken with grief and frustration with himself we saw for a significant chunk of the series. Edit: Also there's just something really beautiful about how Pariston trusted that this would be the outcome.
