Comic commentary! Ch5 pages 18-27

It's been... 15 pages since the last commentary! >:0 I wanted to let the pages accumulate so there'd be more content but FIFTEEN-! Whoops. Doing up to pg 27 today.

Ok, so -

A god prison! Is exactly what the name says - difficult to kill a god so the elves have one imprisoned so they can sacrifice the immortal being over and over and over again. What sort of god this is will be essential later ;0

So Tuimar and Inara know each other. From somewhere. Tuimar is confused why Ina is there and Ina is very happy to see him again... for totally friendly reasons.

They know each other AND they have a shared friend. Whose will Tuimar seems to be following here. Did Ina know about the elves' plans before Marya, Kai and Vard found her? Was it pure coincidence that the most powerful individual of a species immune to elvish magic just happened to be nearby?

Then Inara and Mischief get hurt and one of Inara's knives is broken. Someone knew to point out this was in part thanks to Vard's shield fracturing it waaaay back in the beginning of chapter 2.

Flashback time ~ Vard and his sister Kyn have been raiders for a long time, but in addition they'd take the occasional monster hunting gig. Hence - this situation.

Vard and Kyn both survive, of course. Thanks to Kai! And thanks to that big favor, Vard is in his current situation. Kyn and Ina had to have similar wounds here to tie the two scenes visually together.

Vard saves Inara! Vard does not accept people as friends easily and his life has taught him to not trust or help others just like that. He's not a straight up bad person, just cautious. Before he would've lumped Ina and Mischief in the same boat as the elves - similar assholes, just different sides - but now he's decided Inara is someone he's willing to protect.
