Quality
Added 2025-01-22 11:10:04 +0000 UTCHow do you define quality? Is it objective or subjective? How do we determine what is good over what is not? Is it a consensus? Is it a matter of popular opinion? Or is it something you just know and feel to be right? I ponder this as an artist, as a human.
When you see, hear, feel, and taste things of quality, is it acquired? Or do you just know? When you hear a symphony, how do you know it is good? When you see a painting deemed a masterpiece, how can you recognize it? Does it have to evoke a strong feeling? Does it matter? I don't know exactly but certain things do appeal to me more than others.
To me, the quality of some things are undeniable, say the taste of an exquisite meal. Whereas some things are in the grey area, eg. popular music. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is pleasing to you? I believe my dear patrons, I am somewhat pleasing to you, aesthetically. But I also hope to some of you, I am also pleasing intellectually.
