Derelict Dancer

dancing in the shadows
of abandoned old buildings
in doorways and arches
graffiti and corrugated iron
delighting in the dilapidated.
My face
seeks rejuvenating rays of light
amongst shattered glass
discarded spray cans and litter
puddles of dirty water
like a weed growing in cracks of cement.
I create
art in the chaos
beauty in the trash
music in the emptiness
with so much urgency and yet
all the time in the world.
