First things first: What's changing about the patreon tiers and why?
The why is rather simple, ever since I started posting screenshots of the animations that I'm converting and beta builds in the patreon exclusive Discord channel it felt like the $7 patrons aren't getting anything noteworthy over the $3 patrons.
Now about what is changing: The progress reports have been moved to the $3 tier. They will also get early access to new releases. The beta builds will now be limited to the $7 and higher tiers.
What is the difference between a beta build and a new release?
That is depending on the kind of mod.
For a code based mod like OStim a beta build will be made for every single new feature that I implement, and probably oftentimes contain some bugs. A new release will have several new features and all the bugs fixed that were found by testers of the beta builds.
For an animation pack like the Billyy furniture pack I am working on right now a beta build will be made for every animation sequence that I get done. By sequence I mean all the stages of a single SL animation. A new release will be made once I get a block of animations done. The first release for example will be made once I have converted all of the chair/bench animations. You will not have to wait until I am done with every furniture animation that Billyy ever made before the first release.
Now to what I'm working on:
Converting SL furniture animations is a lot more work that I initially anticipated. Mainly because they are rotated the wrong way around and offset. I guess SL did not position the actors in the dead center of the furniture, but OStim does. That means I have to edit every single animation file, which requires the use of a bunch of different tools, including several instances of Blender. But I am slowly getting there as you can see by the screenshots I have been posting in Discord.
Monitor144hz is updating his FNIS list to Nemesis patch tool to support adding a playback speed. Once he has done that I will use said tool for the animation pack. Here is a short list of cons and pros:
Cons: Nemesis will be required, it will no longer work with FNIS.
Pros: I can add speed controls for SL animations which will play the exact same animation at a different speed.
Personally I feel like the pros overweight the cons.
On another node: Converting those animations is really monotonous, so I have to do something that has to do with neither Blender nor .xml files every than and now or I might take some brain damage from this. There will be a new poll for the Miraaks Mantra tier soon of what to work on next in between converting more SL animations.
