Hello everyone! Damn doors are hard!
I’ve been working on all 9 doors this past two weeks and we are getting to an end on that! I wont get into detail on each one because there are too many, but I want to share some of the challenges in general and some specific problems I had to go around to get them to work! First of all, because of how door textures work in Minecraft, I had to sacrifice a little bit the vanilla style for the POM to work. I wont get into much detail because it’s boring stuff but basically i had to put something in the middle of each door. Everything is still pretty accurate tho!
Most difficult part has been to place handles! The ‘3D’ effect is only achievable to the inside of the geometry, so I had to play with frames and grooves to place them. I think the result is believable and it keeps the vanilla style (iron door didn't get the handle tho, it doesn't make sense because how it works) I also had to play a lot with ornament placement because how the sides of the doors work (they grab the side part of the regular texture and just slap that bad boi on the side) so i had to be carefull with the holes and some elements)
All in all, I'm super happy with the result. They absolutely keep the vanilla essence and consistency between each one. (And yes, the roots of the warped door glow in the darkness)
Thank you so much to all of you. Everything i do is thanks to you and this incredible community. I hope you have a GREAT day! :) Cheers!!!
