What does it mean to be woman? A subjective idea to be sure and in an infinite (unimaginably so) array of variation, meaning, feeling, appearance.

Singular to one’s opinion, and yet so readily demanded and dictated by so much external noise,

influence, pressure.

Woman.

Molded, kept, trimmed and not allowed to spread and grow into the unending wilderness it was intended to be.

Under uniforms, criticisms, it is constantly cut back by should’s and should not’s, and yet in this well kept labyrinthine woman is supposed to find identity, community, care and an acceptance of the self—

How contrived.

Prostrated or otherwise, always controlled, maintained by the swaying whim of corporation and influencer, standards and modesty, intellect or appearance, never the nuances it is due to be all or none or more at once.

And the sad truth is, that for all the variation, there is beauty in it all—as a fellow human who has struggled with guilt, ought and ought nots, with confusion and a lack of identity, I put out my hand to you, you are welcome as you are—and I can assure you, the more the external is shedded, the more the internal emerges
