Stones? Pounds? Kilograms?
Added 2020-01-12 10:06:23 +0000 UTCI'm working away at adding the images for this month, but I think I may have been very optimistic in thinking I'll get a full round of size increments in place by the end of the month.
My PC has been rendering away constantly. I've even started running it overnight every night processing images, but we're a third of the way through the month and I've only got around a quarter of them done. I may have to look into how much an RTX graphics card speeds up rendering time.
All my time so far this month has gone on images rather than writing, but one of the ideas that popped into my head was actually having more of an indication of how much heavier Alice is getting. For example, instead of her saying something like 'Ugh, I'm the heaviest I've ever been', she might say 'I'm (insert weight here) now. That's the heaviest I've ever been'.
With that in mind, I was wondering whether you guys prefer to have her give a definite number, or whether it should just be kept as general comments about getting fatter? And if so, whether the weight should be in stones, pounds or even kilograms?

I like the idea a lot too, so it'll definitely be implemented at some point soon :) And yeah, it'll be pounds initially. That was the clear winner in the poll, so that'll be the first. I'm a Brit though, so from my point of view, I'd like to see stones in there as well. May add Kilos at some stage in the future too.
2020-01-20 09:57:50 +0000 UTCI missed this poll but I am absolutely in favor of hard weight numbers. Not only does it help to visualize progress, but it will finally de-obfuscate the situation with Alice's vacillating on how much she eats/tries not to eat day-to-day when you've pushed her right up to the edge of being "too fat" for her to appreciate, but also a greedy pig, and fighting those two desires in front of us. And obviously I would have voted Pounds. Kilos as second. Stones should be easy to implement, something like: int Stones=0, Pounds=0; Stones=baseWeight/14; Pounds=baseWeight%14; (granted that's in what I remember of C++ and is probably both bad syntax and lexicon for Python)

2020-01-20 04:00:37 +0000 UTCHow tall is she? That would inform her base weight number quite a bit. For her fitness level I'd say in the area of 1.8 pounds/inch, maybe 1.9 or 2 if you feel she's less "athletic" for her height.

2020-01-20 03:53:02 +0000 UTCUnsurprisingly, looks as though pounds is going to be the clear winner here! I really think that adding weight numbers to the game will make it more fun (and nobody has voted against this!), so I'll look into adding this at some point in the not too distant future. You've all see Alice at her starting size, so what do you think her initial weight should be? I'm thinking 120lb?
2020-01-17 13:54:04 +0000 UTCHmmm... without giving too much away, let's just say that I didn't buy the scales in the splash screen just for that one image ;)
2020-01-17 13:49:22 +0000 UTC100% in support of giving her weight a quantity. I realize this is a slightly different topic, but on the subject of her weight, I would LOVE a scale scene where she weighs herself in front of you to see how much she’s gained.

2020-01-16 07:08:50 +0000 UTCThe reference to her weight seems like an interesting addition here. I know it's not without work, but the diversity in the dialogue is one of the things that make this game the more enjoyable to replay. (Also, on the side, can't wait for those new images. No pressure, but any chance you'll post a sneak peak before the next release?) In the meantime, keep with the cool work.

2020-01-14 00:26:54 +0000 UTCI was beginning to think I was the only one here who used stone! I'm actually quite surprised by the results so far. I always expected pounds to win out easily, but I imagined that stones would come second and KG third. Shows how much I know :p
2020-01-13 20:44:14 +0000 UTCI think it'll definitely get implemented at some point! Although you're quite right. She might not be keen to tell you any numbers if she's embarassed about it :)
2020-01-13 20:42:28 +0000 UTCI think in terms of stone, but 14lbs is one stone so I voted pounds as I think it will be slightly more universal in that it's something UK and US can understand.
2020-01-13 17:40:45 +0000 UTCGiving her weight quantity is a great idea. I think the dialogue should be a mix of both quality and quantity though because realistically there will be times when she won't want to tell you numbers, but also times when she will. No matter how you decide to implement it, you're doing some truly amazing work.
2020-01-12 15:45:19 +0000 UTCYeah, that's my feeling too. Hearing her say 'Oh god, I've got even fatter' is cool... but something like 'God, I've put on another ten pounds' is a bit more interesting IMO. Nobody's voted against it so far, so I may well add this at some point :) Thanks for the encouragement with the images! I'm getting there, but it's taking a lot of time...
2020-01-12 14:03:31 +0000 UTCI definitely won't be adding all three. Aside from the fact that they use different syntax (and in the case of stones, an entirely different base), that would mean two extra playtests every time I do a runthrough to ensure that all three are working correctly. I simply don't have the time to test the game that much.
2020-01-12 13:59:22 +0000 UTCI'm a personally a big fan of adding little extra bits of dialogue where Alice tells us just how fat she is if it's not too much work for you to add. I know that personally I'd love it as it'd be a way of tracking how much an effect we're having on Alice beyond the images, it'd feel like constant progress which would be great. Also good luck with getting in the next set of images, we all understand if it takes a bit longer so just get in what you can, there's no rush here.

2020-01-12 12:51:37 +0000 UTCI believe, that you can use all of them and user can select on the beginning which units to use...
