Why I Love Shooting on Location - PT 1
Added 2021-06-05 17:45:12 +0000 UTCMost of my work is produced on location and not in the studio. Some of the work that appears to be done in a studio is often actually on location. This is my preferred method of shooting.
Shooting on location and with available light both limits and frees me as a photographer. My model and I are free to move (within the confines of the location) and aren't limited to a small area of engineered light as you are required to do in the studio.
Finding the right light, angles, and unique elements of the location is something that I enjoy immensely. When you've been doing this as long as I have, boredom and repetitiveness can become a problem and discovering and shooting in a new location prevents that.
This Location is a house that was a photographer friend's studio for many years. It had been sold to be returned to a family dwelling and my friend had moved almost everything out of the house. It was basically an empty house with great light and long throws (big unobstructed rooms).
I was given a week to shoot in the house after my friend was mostly moved out and before the sale was done and the new owner's received a key. I got 4 shoots in during that week, two non-nude shoots of my masked model, one with Solar and her friend and one with Tempestivus - another creator friend on Patreon.
The shoots were all very different. The non-nude shoot emphasized the lonely and empty feeling of the location. We utilized almost every room in the house during this shoot.
The shoot with Solar and her friend was after the same vibe, but with an erotic twist and a bit of fun suggesting some BDSM.
I only have permission to use one shot from the shoot with Tempestivus, the final image of this post.
All of these images were taken during the last week of last year and the first of this year. It was very cold while shooting adding to the empty, lonely vibe of the images.
As of now, a family is living in the location, blissfully unaware of the fun and creativity experienced within their home.
