CUSTOM CONTENT (CC) INSTALLING TUTORIAL

Whether you are new to custom content installing, or already an OG at it, I suggest you read through this little tutorial I wrote on how to properly install CC (Custom Content.) Here is a step by step tutorial, with troubleshooting included. Please read this post in it's entirety, before downloading and installing.
SET UP
- First, make sure your game is fully updated.
- Next, make sure your mods/cc are enabled in the game settings. While in game go to:
Game Options>Other> Enable custom content and mods.
FILE TYPE
After you download, always check your file type. That determines how the CC will be installed. Whatever comes after the period in the file name, is the file type. Example:
SAVAGE-SIMS-CustomContentOutfit.package or SAVAGE-SIMS-CustomContentOutfit.rar
- After downloading, If you have a ".Package" file type. Go to the INSTALLING section.
- After downloading, If you have a ".Rar" file type. Go to the DOWNLOADING section.
DOWNLOADING
You have a ".rar" file type:
- Use winrar to download the CC files: rarlab.com/download.htm
If you have a MAC, an alternative to winrar is Unarchiver: https://theunarchiver.com/
- Download the one for your system, and use the program to extract the contents of the download, to the folder of your choice. (You should have .package files once extracted.) You are basically removing the .package files, from the compressed .rar file type. Only place .rar file types in your mods folder, if the CC/mod creator specifically told you to do so.
- Also, make sure you always read the download post carefully, and download any extra "meshes," if the download requires it. If you don't install a required mesh, in game you will have a missing mesh, and end up with red question marks on your sims.
INSTALLING
You have a ".package" file type:
- Go to the path: Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>Mods
- Put the ".package" files into the "mods" folder.
- Now you need to clear your cache, you should do this every time you add new mods or cc to your game.
- Go to the path: Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4
- Inside "The Sims 4" Folder, delete the "localthumbcache" package file. This will refresh all the CC thumbnails next time you load the game. If it crashes, just delete the newly generated localthumbcache and open the game again, and it should load fine :)

helloo , i just wanted to ask do i have to use winrar to unzip or i can use another application , i tried my way with 7zip but i dont see in my game. thank you :)

I put the setting on high to see if it would work but nothing is

2022-05-25 04:24:02 +0000 UTChi i have all of your old cc from 2017 icy collection and more and now since the new update my sexy Markiss sim his skin is looking metalic and some of the clothes and make up and nails are looking crazy lol i was wondering if you would make newer version of the rude boi collection that still works perfect but Markiss is picky i dont know witch trait it is or mod i may have i only use your cc and he talking about used clothes like what as if i gave him someones hand me downs or went to a second hand store ..i think its the high maintance trait he tripping i wish i could send you a screen shot....

2021-08-07 19:42:26 +0000 UTCHello, I want to thank you for all of your beautiful creations but unfortunately all of your collection.rar won't show up in my game I tried everything that you suggested and then some but nothing worked. I never had a problem like this before and can't figure out what it could be but I don't have any issues with all of your package collections. Hope this can problem can be solved soon because I can't wait to use the CC.

I also plan on adding more to this and making it an official tab. Do you remember any other things you had a hard time with when you first started? I wanna make this as helpful as possible.
