Such a great follow up film, great reaction K. I think you’re right about the extended cuts, they don’t really gel with the film overall, I have that sentiment for the whole trilogy, the best versions of the films imo are the theatrical releases. HOWEVER, that Boromir flashback should have 100% been in the film, it adds a critical layer to the Boromir character we met in the first film, and is important going into the third film with his brother’s relationship with his father. Great stuff looking forward to the next one!

2025-10-14 22:35:54 +0000 UTCGollum exclusively calling Sam 'Fat Hobbit' always makes me laugh 😅 He's such a sad character, he's had 500+ years of being tortured and corrupted by the ring, the only person who has ever shown him kindness is Frodo and it changed his entire personality however fleetingly Frodo showed he's capable of being brought back. Sadly nobody else follows Frodos lead, even heroic characters like Sam and Faramir treat him like a stray dog, he's beaten, insulted and manhandled. It's equally tragic knowing that Frodo needs to believe in Smeagol because he needs to know he himself can be saved from what the Ring is doing to him.
