It's a misconception that guns are banned. There are just strict laws to obtain them so most people would never bother trying and you can't own them for self defence. They are more of a tool for pest control in the countryside or used for sport.

2025-08-28 15:18:41 +0000 UTCOwning knives isn't illegal, but having one with a blade over 3 inches or that locks in place, outside the home is pretty illegal in the UK unless you can demonstrate there's a good reason (They'd accept 'I'm on my way to a woodworking club' or 'I'm a chef heading home from work' but not 'self-defence' or 'just in case I need it'). Also owning certain types like zombie knives/butterfly knives is banned outright. Not sure when those laws came in though, it's possible Mark wasn't committing a crime when this aired in the 2000s, but that type of knife is 100% illegal to own now.

She's not a recurring character, but we'll be seeing more of lovely Big Suze! Just so you know some of the lore for context: in one of the early episodes of series 1, Jez is in the bathroom and pees all on the toilet seat. As he does this, he says to himself "take that Big Suze! your toilet regime is over". So she was mentioned early on If i recall, i think about a year has passed since series 2. The first series starts off in the same year it aired (2003). Jez and Suze roomed together in what he called "The Love Shack" three years prior to that, so it would've been in 2000. She had moved off sometime before the first series started. My personal favorite moment of this episode is Mark's reaction to the mugger saying "we'll do you!" lmao
