Great news! I guess it was your words in wrapping up when you said: "[Mark] pisses me off so much that I'm not sure I can even look forward to the next episode... There's 9 seasons?!" that misled me. 🤪 I took that to mean you couldn't bear to continue watching that long. As I mentioned in a previous comment, we Britons are a cynical lot who believe nobody ever changes or develops, so we might as well laugh about it!

2025-06-18 21:38:38 +0000 UTCguys i do like peep show and i did like this episode, im not going to stop watching it, i was just sympathizing with mark because i know how irritating it can be when people just assume something happened when they don’t know anything and then they don’t listen to you. i don’t understand why it comes across as me not liking the show. if i didn’t like it i wouldn’t watch it! i don’t normally watch tv with real people so maybe that’s why? i don’t know, anyway, i will continue to watch peep show.

2025-06-18 21:10:30 +0000 UTCI feel like it was growing on her over the previous few episodes but yeah, she didn't seem to be feeling this one. I wouldn't give up just yet though, finish out season 2 and see how she feels.

2025-06-18 20:51:35 +0000 UTCGenerally, I can't think of much US comedy I have enjoyed, possibly because so much of it is written by committee, effectively, and more than anything because the writers usually feel the need to show a moral purpose and development to the characters, which comes across as corny to my cynical British eye - the very reason Klaire seems to dislike Peep Show! I absolutely loved Frasier in its day, that said.

2025-06-18 18:29:07 +0000 UTCHi Klaire, I agree with Eddy that if you aren't enjoying peep show try something else. Maybe try one episode of a load of shows and see which one you like best What's your favourite American comedy? That might give us an idea what to suggest. Of US stuff I'm a big fan of Community and Gilmore Girls (which is a comedy drama really. I'd watch you react to either of those as well!

2025-06-18 16:39:41 +0000 UTC@Klaire: If Peep Show is not your cup of tea at all, you should stop, because the main point of a reaction (I think?) is for those of us already familiar with a show to see it through fresh eyes and enjoy your enjoyment! Why don't you try Fawlty Towers with John Cleese instead? It's much more classical comedy (no awkward stuff!) and ranges from high to situational and deadpan comedy, wordplay, farce and slapstick. It was brilliantly and very precisely written in the 70s by Cleese and his then American wife, Connie Booth (who plays a waitress), and is regularly voted the funniest sitcom of all time by British audiences.

2025-06-18 04:11:46 +0000 UTCNot sure whether you were confused about the random advert, or Kaliber, which is a non-alcoholic lager. And yeah, there is absolutely no character development. Mark continues through life on the spectrum, and Jez continues on with the maturity of a 16yr old lad - being led by one thing, and it’s not logic!

2025-06-17 16:46:48 +0000 UTCAs long as the sad news isn't that the doctor told you that you are dying, I'm sure we can all bear whatever it is, Klaire. I assume you are about to tell us that you feel you can no longer fulfil your obligations of posting reactions, so you are retiring?

2025-06-17 16:37:14 +0000 UTCHey. I can unfortunately confirm that there is absolutely zero character development. ;) This show is basically a modern version of Wuthering Heights, an exploration of human depravity. It's looking at two people who always, always do exactly the wrong thing. And it's hilarious.
