When I first watched this as a teenager I cringed a little but nowhere near as much as I am now as an adult...

I'd hate to conjecture which personality is closest to mine though. I guess I'm closer to Jez in leading a highly unconventional life, but closer to Mark in the twists and turns of my brain, not to mention my geekishness. 😝

2025-05-14 23:57:37 +0000 UTCKlaire, I think you talk just about the right amount. I still particularly love your stunned silences! As I've mentioned before though, the audio of your speech is always quite a bit too high compared to the programme itself. To give you an idea, I normally have my amp set to '60', but to be able to hear what you're listening to I had to turn it up to 70, which makes your speech and laughter ear-piercing! Luckily I live in a detached house on my own, but I do wonder what passers-by must wonder! 😋

2025-05-14 23:16:03 +0000 UTCYour reactions are great, and it's good with a show like peep show as you get a non chocolate boxy view of England. With that and inbetweeners your getting some real stuff of what we are like over here. So it's going to be a culture shock as they are two very unvarnished shows. So all reactions and comments are interesting and valid! I've lived with a Mark and I've got a little of Jeremy about me(not much thankfully but I can relate to him, though I'm less of moral blackhole!) and I definitely had a mate like Superhans! I hate to critique because you are doing great, but it's the technical thing of getting the volume of your voice similar to the volume of the show. At the moment, the show is often too quiet and then I turned the volume up as I was cooking and you suddenly got extra loud so I had to turn it back down and could hear the bit of the show you were reacting to. Works better for me to manage watching if you and the show are at similar volumes. I don't know if that's an easy fix though

2025-05-14 23:08:02 +0000 UTCI like your reactions! As someone else mentioned, if you're going to talk while dialogue is happening, it's probably best to skip back 5 seconds just so we know you didn't miss anything. There is a lot of subtlety and hilarious stuff in the inner thoughts of Mark and Jez. Also the audio seemed a bit low in this one!

2025-05-14 19:10:45 +0000 UTCYour reactions are great. Id say you could talk & pause _slightly_ more, but it's no drama. After pausing, it helps to skip back 5 secs with the left arrow key. One thing would be great would be if you could alter the audio levels. In this react, peep show was very quiet, but you were very loud. I'll have to explain to my elderly neighbour tomorrow that I wasn't watching porn, I was watching a normal film when someone shouted "IS THAT HER FANNY?" when I had the volume all the way up.

2025-05-14 18:57:54 +0000 UTCThe subplot with Mark at the funeral always amuses me, because it takes me back 40 years to my mid-twenties when I had to attend the funeral of one of my best mates and housemate who had just been killed on his motorbike by a van driver in a hurry. I was understandably devastated and still in shock, entirely unable to process my distress, at the wake we held straight after the service, when the sexiest, cutest girl there (according to my other best mate at the time!) took it upon herself to grab me and suggest we go back to her place so she could 'comfort' me 😋. I've heard many times since that funerals are hotbeds of promiscuity! 🤣

2025-05-14 18:45:13 +0000 UTCYes Johnson does become a regular character but from series 3...but in series 2 a new love interest for mark joins the show.

2025-05-14 17:30:48 +0000 UTCJez’s more overt selfishness often makes him seem like the villain in this, but he’s not, he’s actually a slightly tragic character. I think I commented this a couple of episodes ago, but Jez is a child trapped in a man’s body, so he has a moral code, it’s just that of a child. He’s not really a bad bloke, at least compared to the genuinely calculating and malevolent Mark, he’s mostly an emotionally stunted idiot.

2025-05-14 16:45:05 +0000 UTCSeries 2 is a proper step up, in both production and show quality, so if you like series 1 you should be very comfortable from here. And yes, Johnson from episode 4 is a recurring character.

2025-05-14 12:45:45 +0000 UTCJez’s speech was one of the few genuinely decent and principled things he did in the whole show. He was basically calling out Ray’s sister for being a bit self-righteous, like she’d hijacked the funeral and made it all about what she thought was right, rather than what Ray would’ve actually wanted, especially considering his late-in-life religious turn. The Enya reference was just a throwaway: her song had been on the TV earlier, so it was probably just stuck in Jez’s head. But his main point was fair: even if we think Ray’s beliefs were a bit out there, it’s not about us. We should respect them and give him the kind of send-off he would’ve wanted, not scrub all the religion just because it makes some people uncomfortable.

2025-05-14 11:56:27 +0000 UTCDate to a funeral is weird and in general I agree with what I think you implied earlier - once she has said no, he (or any guy) should accept it and stop pestering her, in this case, he is so weird and awkward he never really managed to ask her.

2025-05-14 11:29:21 +0000 UTCEnya is the singer on TV when Jez is channel surfing at the beginning. The cardboard coffin is a thing now, one of my friends almost got cremated in one, but it would have cost more than the standard veneer coffins. It's a more eco-friendly alternative I think, possibly another reference to sanctimonious Liz hijacking Ray's funeral for her own ends. Peep Show always builds to an epic crescendo of chaos in the final episode, they just get better from here. Or worse, depending on how you look at it.
