The Paper Peach prototype went well. The other good news is that I was able to import the latest 2D rig into the game and get it working successfully, which is something I thought was impossible before. I will now be replacing the paper peach and bowser with these rigs.
I designed this rig just to make animations with, because it's very complex and a little heavy for a videogame. But I was recently able to give the rig an overhaul, and programmed in some new functionality that makes it useable in the game.
You may have seen these on twitter, but I'm now implementing new animations that run in realtime, the same way Paper Peach worked, complete with dynamic behaviors and facial expressions.
