First Potential Sponsor - And why we are not going to take the deal.

Hey guys, we figured since you are all the core members of this community, we'd share what's going on behind the scenes.

By all means, we all would love to develop this channel into our "main" source of income and do this full time, for that, of course, sponsors would be very benneficial to our cause.

After nearly a year, finally, a sponsor has occured which would greatly help us in producing better content. However, the sponsor in question is called "Better Help" which is basically an online therapy platform.

At first, we thought about accepting the deal as it allines with our core values, to help people, their montal state, making everyone feel good etc..

However, after looking deeper into them, we saw that a number of controvercies were linked to this company and that the platform itself seems to be a big hit or miss for many people, so we sat down and had "The talk" what is more important? Quick cash or our Audience, and the answer could not have come faster.. It's you, you are most important, and we would rather push on the hard way, working hard, growing the channel than taking money and in turn potentially fool any of you into a bad platform.

Do you guys think we made the right call on this or are we being a bit dramatic?

Have you heard of these guys before? By all means, we don't know too much about them, and the controversies may not be accured at this point in time, but we do not want to risk it,if we don't trust something enough.

Let us know what you think guys, we apprecaite you!

What have they done to prey on people? I haven't heard anything about this

It's up to you, but as far as I know - it's kind of a scam and most youtube creators I respect - turned them down. Preying on people that need help with mental health is so predatory and I wouldn't want to be associated with that if I was you. Money isn't worth giving up your integrity and clear conscience for. I know it's easy for me to say that, since I am not the one being offered money, but I think it's not worth it. I feel like people suggesting to take it are thinking short-term. I'd say trust your gut and principles on this one.

I guess so, but the reputation these guys have with youtube is what really scares us, to be assosiated with them could also hurt our channel in the long run, we plan on making reviews for both games and tv shows/films in the future, trust is something we will need, and to have this firm linked to us would..hurt trust, I feel. If we promote something just for cash ya know?

Chris Petrov

Yeah i get it and appreciate it i can feel that you guys love us and care a lot about the people that watch and support you but sometimes its ok to think of yourself and get quick cash 😜 i love yall and i hope you grow and become one of the biggest reactors in YouTube and you deserve waaaay more, the difference between you guys and others is that other reactors you can feel that they do it just for the money but you guys care a lot about your audience to the point of thinking about (if you do sponsor or not) just get everything its ok because if you dont get it others will and i think i would be happy if it goes to yall and its not even enough for you guys β™₯️β™₯️

I think most people understand the relationship between sponsors and content producers. Therapy services like "Better Help" are highly subjective. As you said, its a big hit or miss and i suspect it's about pairing the right therapist with the right patients to achieve a good result. That's not easy. I personally wouldn't hold you responsible if I had a bad experience with the company. I would understand that there is an element of chance that isn't really under your control. So I'd say take the money but "Better Help" should maybe offer a clear disclaimer that it's not for everyone and some people could benefit more from in person therapy or something like that.

Cheers kistor, we will see.. In the long term, the relationship between us and you the audience is more important than a bit of quick cash.. so we can easily miss this and be totally fine with it, others will come eventually!

Chris Petrov

Haha, I mean, yes and no..Because the relationship between us and you guys..it needs trust, so If we can't fully stand behind something, it doesn't feel right promoting it to you guys, ya know? it's not a scam, just not the best business around from what we see.

Chris Petrov

I agree with Duncan in 100%. Who cares if it's scum or not... If it is, it is only better that you take part in it, because some of their money became yours, not all goes for those shitheads XD Everyone can see for themselves if this sponsor will be gainful or not. No worries, no one will think bad od you guys because of taking in an oportunity.

Pawel

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, we will consider what you said, as you do make good points. Thank you!

Chris Petrov

We are still in talks, but internally we are against it because we don't want to misslead any audience members, it is not a scam, but the service from what we hear is not the best. You do have a point about the legal problems, most companies have them, you guys surprise us a bit with how open you are to this.. We will discuss it further, thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Chris Petrov

Take it because people are smart they know its just a sponsor so its ok specially when there's a chance that its a hit ... A lot of people watch your reaction they dont care about the sponsor thing so its ok to take what you deserve because if you keep worrie about everyone you will never step up so take it please and i hope all the best to yall πŸ™πŸ»β™₯️

Cash in and take any and every sponsor that you are offered, that will help you on your journey and channel growth. You are a content creator, which is basically running a business,so all profit is good profit,as a patreon,I could not care less about the sponsors the people I subscribe to,have,it is really none of my business, most people just skip any ad's anyway,it is 100% a decision for you guys running the channel and only you guys. I know nothing about the company, but I have heard it many times from podcasts and other channels I subscribe to,that they also sponsor.

Duncan

I think that your decision is perfectly respectable! It certainly makes us feel great as customers to know you're looking out for us. Now, I don't know much about better help. But, as long as it's not a literal scam, I personally wouldn't have been too bothered with you guys taking them as a sponsor. I still think it behooves us (as customers of any product) to be aware of what we are purchasing. I don't think you should feel that you have to vet every potential sponsor's legal problems, cause more than likely they all have a bunch, lol. But, like I said before, I have nothing but respect for the decision you made. Just my two cents
