2025-01-16 08:27:22 +0000 UTCI'm going to give this and the last episode 9.5 out of 10. First episode is a great fast-paced start to the season that spices it up with a new mystery (the Beast Titan). I love this episode because the character development is very well done. I do find the Ymir/Historia discussion scene a little heavy-handed for some reason. I'm also not a huge fan of cutting away from a running plot to play a flashback; it feels a bit too spoon-fed, if that makes sense. But I love the way they juxtapose Sasha saving the girl and the scene with her father to give us an insight into her character. And it's very touching; perhaps there's some sort of theme of self-sacrifice and self-acceptance being the true catalysts for heroic character. And maybe don't let the people who haven't seen the show read this, but this episode is so much more important in the grand scheme of things than you think right now; which just attests to how great the writing in the show is.
