With this one I wanted to do that kind of romantic candle light bath scene, plus I hadnt done a portrait of her since "Demure" and the face was probably my least favorite part of the previous one so its something I wanted to focus on here.
This was one of those where I couldnt really do what I wanted because of technical limitations so I just tried to make it look as good as I could with what I know. The main thing is that it was meant to be a lot darker but I couldnt figure out how to make it work so I went with this instead, with the candles being mostly depicted by the bokeh lights and also a heavy depth of field to keep the focus on her.
I also wanted it to have more of a bubble bath look with foam but Ive never done that and have no idea how to so Id need a lot more time to experiment with it and find how to make it work.
In the end though the character is really the important part and that Im very happy with. I wanted to give her a gentler look with this one and together with her looking at the viewer, I think it makes the whole thing look really inviting, like she is welcoming you to join her.
A thing I decided on pretty early too was that I wanted her hands to be over her chest rather than hidden underwater. Im always a big fan of hands and nails being visible and this is one of those where the extra red of the nails helps a lot with making the colors pop, especially being so close to the lips and face. And the arm placement also has the side effect of pushing her breasts in, which combined with them floating on the water, gives them a fuller look than usual.
Then I did the usual messy bun hairstyle I love for this kind of scene rather than the usual long ponytail, with the long frontal strands going down to her breasts. Its something that also works great for those dress pics so Ill probably use it the next time I do one of those too. And this is also one of the rare pics where she isnt wearing her feathers. I felt like it looked better without them here since the bath is the one place where full nudity actually makes sense so I just wanted her to be wearing as little as possible (read: nothing, lol unless you count the earrings).
So yeah, I do love how she looks here and my main goal of making up for the previous one was a success, but I wish I could have given it that moody low light look I wanted with the candles. Ill just have to try again later I guess, maybe with a bedroom scene or something.
I did another pic of her right after this one that Im very happy with (I tend to like drawing her back to back) but Ill leave that one for later and post some more commissions of different characters next.
