Burden

Yep, its Hanya again, I wanted to do another frontal pic of her but this time with more of a dark fantasy look to it.

At first I wasnt sure what I was gonna do with it really, I just knew I wanted to do something different from the usual indoors scenes I do a lot, so I left the background empty hoping that while coloring Id have some ideas, since the coloring itself always takes a while. You can see from the steps pic that the 3rd one is when I finally found the direction I wanted to go, in terms of mood, colors, and everything really, especially once I added the feathers. After that it was just a matter of iterating on it, trying a few things and adding more detail here and there to keep it from looking too empty.

Anyway about Hanya herself, I wanted to go with a darker look in general or more "goth" if you wanna put it that way. More emphasis on the black make up and such, with the nails matching the lips and eyeshadow/eyeliner. And then another thing I wanted to change that I had already messed with in the first pic I did of her, was the nipples/areolae. I couldnt quite get it to work the first time but here, I felt like darker ones looked so much better and really fit her aesthetic. Plus they add to the motherly vibe, which I think is a plus for most people who like my art.

I also spent a lot of time getting her face/expression just right but I love how it turned out. I feel like its exactly how she would translate from the in game model into my artstyle (and a more realistic style ingeneral) based on her personality.

For the clothing I was also a bit undecided at first but I thought I definitely wanted to go with a black dress of some kind, then it was a matter of refining the details. I really like those kinds of sleeves where you have the feathery parts, plus you have the jewelry and also the stockings which I felt add to the elegance overall. This is one of those where going with stockings was an easy choice over bare legs, it fits much better with the overall look, also because it puts more focus on her upper body since thats where she is most exposed.

And yeah back to the background, Im not really going for any specific thing here, so its pretty much up to everyones interpretation. I just tried a bunch of things and thought "this looks really cool" so I kept it. Ive always liked this kind of art with a big moon in the background so I was glad that it worked out here. And the floating cards are completely random, I have no idea where that came from lol. It all somehow works and makes for a really satisfying composition, and thats all that matters to me.

I do still have more stuff I wanna do with her (one full body pic at least) but I think Ill leave that for later. I do have a bunch of Star Rail characters I wanted to draw that I never did and I feel bad that I just keep drawing Hanya instead lol. But yeah I guess thats how I work, I just get the urge to do something out of nowhere. If anything, hopefully my art will lead to Hanya having a few more fans out there.
