This was actually the last thing I did, but its the one I wanted to post today. I hadnt done this kind of view/pose in a long time so I wanted to give it a try. I dont think it qualifies as a back pic but its a nice mix of everything really and one of those poses thats very appealing in general no matter what youre into.
At first when I was planning what to do, I had her completely nude, but as I started thinking about what clothes I could give her to make it more interesting, I remembered those arm/leg warmers I used to do a lot a few years ago that I really like, so I gave it a try and sure enough it was exactly what I was looking for. Im not sure what it is about it but I find them really cute and sexy, plus they add a nice amount of contrast against her pale skin, as always.
And then I also wanted to give her some kind of underwear just so she wouldnt be so exposed given the angle and it wouldnt be so explicit, while still getting a small peek at things much like in "Idyllic". I kept going back and forth between how transparent I wanted to make the lace, lol but I thought this was just the right amount.
I also feel like after a few tries Ive finally nailed this kind of angle when it comes to doing the head/face, with the key being the chin/jawline really to add just the right amount of depth to it. The thing is its one of those things thats better done only through shading because if you use lines it becomes too sharp and Im not a fan of that since its usually a masculine trait, so its a matter of striking the right balance. Giving it a good amount of definition while keeping it feminine.
Another detail I really like about this one is the freckles, Im still figuring out the right balance when it comes to her so I keep going between less and more, but I think this pic is just right. They really help with adding detail to the skin and making the whole thing look more natural, alongside the veins and such.
And lastly as far as the overall style goes I wanted to do something similar to "Elegy" because I like that one so much. Everything from the setting, mood, colors, texture, so youll definitely notice the similarities if you look at both side by side.
Maybe its because I come from a traditional art background but Ive never been a fan of overly digital looking stuff, you know like that look when things are way too smooth and look like plastic/clay or whatever (also why Im not a fan of a lot of disney stuff for example). It always felt very "cheap/fake" to me and I think textures are probably the biggest factor there, so thats what Ive been focusing on with the last few pics.
I have another fully body back view I really wanna do of her with similar clothes but Ive been slacking this week so I havent gotten to it yet, plus I gotta get a few more commissions done anyway but yeah Ill definitely try to do it in the near future. Then again, I still have a million things I wanna do with her despite drawing her so much already, lol. When you account for different poses, angles, clothes, settings, etc, the number of possibilities is basically endless.
