So I wanted to draw Eula again but this time from the front. Coincidentally she is finally getting a 2nd rerun after almost 2 years so the timing here was pretty nice.
This is another one I have mixed feelings about, although I do like it overall or I wouldnt be posting it, but I think my previous drawing of her was better. Especially when it comes to colors, this one is pretty bland because I was focusing more on the lighting/shading, and in the end it become sort of an experimental piece anyway.
And speaking of colors I know her hair is supposed to be more of a bright teal but I always like doing gradients and then with the shading it became dark blue towards the tips which I really like so yeah (on my phone is actually looks almost purple but my phone adds a lot of red to everything for some reason). I feel like this is a better fit with the rest of the pic and a brighter, more vibrant color would look out of place.
The thing I like the most about it is how soft it looks, especially her skin but just the rendering overall. It doesnt have as much of a "drawing" look as my usual stuff, which was the goal really. Of course, that doesnt mean its better or worse, just different. As usual it will be up to peoples taste.
I drew a lot this week but I spent most of it just going through my idea folder and sketching a bunch of stuff, jumping from one pic to another. This was the only one I actually finished because I had already started it last week. I do like this method because it lets me take my time with each pic and wait until everything looks just right before I start coloring it, plus swapping around between different pics gives me a fresh perspective so I never get tunnel vision into any of them.
Its hard for me though because I tend to "obsess" over everything I do and I get very emotionally invested too so once I lock into a pic I like, I tend to want to finish it right away. It can be really frustrating when Im still in sketching phase and something doesnt look right and what I should do is just step away and come back later but at the same time I cant stand the feeling of leaving it like that so yeah, lol.
Anyway small tangent. First world problems, artist edition.
