Focusing more on commissions lately as I said before so heres another one.
Also, there will be a lot of red haired characters coming up (well, it started with that miqo'te a few weeks ago). I did like 4 of them in a row, lol. But Ill try to keep things varied by uploading stuff out of order anyway. I do enjoy coloring them a lot because its always so easy to do nice colors when you have a lot of red.
Anyway this is one of those au ra with the big wolf ears, which I hadnt done in a while (a few years I think). I was a bit worried when I finished the sketch because I had no idea what I was gonna do for the scene and it just looked boring in general, so I was hoping I could turn it around with colors/shading/lighting and fortunately, I did. I think its a huge improvement in every area, like even the face/expression looks so much better.
One thing that strikes me about this one is how good the eyes look and how much they stand out. Obviously part of it is the due to the emerald green color among all the red and the blue of the scales, which makes for that satisfying RGB combo. Its also why I decided to go with a teal color for the nails so they would stand out a bit more and add to the contrast. But I also really like the shape of the eyes in general, its something I need to pay more attention to.
Other than that, the jacket is part of her look and something she was wearing in screenshots and previous art, so I felt like it was a must to include it (even though I had complete freedom on what to do with her). I think it works really well and its something I dont usually do so yeah. She does usually wear a black turtleneck sweater underneath but I got rid of that so I could give it my usual sensual touch and have her tease the viewer a bit (not sure if shes putting the jacket on or taking it off though).
The scene itself just came about randomly... I tried a few things and I liked the idea of some dark forest. Then I added that gate/fence and the red leaves and somehow it has this gothic look to it? Like shes about to transform into a werewolf, lol (which would explain why she is undressing). At least thats the feel I get from it, Im sure everyone will have their own ideas.
But yeah once again Im glad I managed to turn it around and I think it turned out pretty unique especially as far as portraits go.
