I actually finished this one before the miqo'te from last week but I thought Id space things out a bit so I dont spam people with my character so much.
So I wanted to do something suggestive for this one, one of those that almost shows but doesnt, leaving you wanting more. But as always keeping it elegant and tasteful of course.
Once again the eyes closed expression helps a lot here and its always my go to when doing poses like this. Then I also wanted to have her wear something because full nudity was too much, so I decided to bring back the lace half gloves and some stockings similar to what she was wearing in "Darker Thoughts" and "Requiem".
Like with the previous dress pic, I was undecided on whether or not to add some kind of jewelry, especially a necklace/chocker, but I liked this more. Having her signature earrings as the only piece of jewelry works well and also helps push your eyes to the head, and I like seeing that faint red glow on the hair (not that that would be a problem anyway since the lips usually have that taken care of).
For the background I wanted something with a very luxurious feel to it, so aside from the usual vegetation I also went with a marble texture on the bed/wall. It was exactly what I was looking for.
Also Ive been putting some extra effort into the general "rendering" lately, with shading and lighting, and I think this one is probably the best example of that yet. I love how much "volume" her body has, how much the shape of everything stands out and how soft everything is.
Ive also been trying something else since "Rhea" which is having the colors of stuff "bleed" into the surroundings (created by light bouncing around), especially when two things come into contact, like the character with whatever they are standing on. I wanted to talk about it with the previous post because it was really noticeable where she is into contact with the couch, like you have this bit of skin tone inside the shadow, and it looks so good while helping with the character really feeling like a part of the environment. I did the same thing here but not to the same extent (because this was one was done before that one, as I said before, so Im still figuring out how much is just right).
Its actually been great lately because I feel like after so many years of trying different things, Ive finally settled on something that "just works". Once I get past the part where I have to add in the background, fill in the flat colors and create the mood of the scene (by far the hardest part of the whole process), the rest is just really smooth. And my biggest problem is definitely how slow I am so anything that helps speed things up is welcome lol (even if Ill never go back to how productive I was during 2018-2019).
Well, next sunday is the 1st of January so this will be the last post of the year. Probably not the kind of thing you expect to see on xmas, but who cares? Lol. All in all, I somehow ended up doing more stuff than last year, despite only drawing for basically half of it, although that says more about how bad 2021 was than anything really.
Next up I have a few more (FFXIV) commissions to post which is what Ive been focusing on lately, after so long its actually been refreshing drawing other peoples characters again so Im really enjoying it (plus I only pick characters I like anyway so no surprise there).
Thats it for today, happy holidays/merry xmas everyone.
