Sunset

A long overdue 2nd Ningguang drawing.

This was probably one of the most frustrating things Ive done and I was pretty close to giving up on it a few times but she looked so good I felt it would be a waste, so I kept going.

Well, it all started with me wanting to do a real life/modern version of her, with a different hairstyle and dress. Despite the big change, I feel like you can still tell right away its her due to how she feels, body language and all that. I love this look so Im pretty sure Im gonna use it again with a different pose/angle, maybe a back view since its an open back dress? But Ill try to focus more on her and less on the background since thats what let this one down.

Anyway, originally her dress was actually a blue gradient, similar to her in game skin, then I tried all black and also a gradient similar to the hair, which is what I kept in the end although lighter, so mostly white really. I really like how it goes with the silky texture and glitter, its fancy and elegant but without being over the top. Then for the shoes I tend to prefer peep-toe ones and low block heels or wedges but for her these are just perfect and its exactly what she would wear, plus I added the shoe dangle which goes so well with crossed legs pose.

For the background I tried a few things and after not being happy with any I sort of stumbled on this look which reminded me of those retro 80s stuff, the kind of thing you see in retrowave music and such which Im a big fan of. And thats also where the camcorder UI idea came from. It might not be obvious but the way it frames the pic adds a lot to it and I think gives it a bit more of an "amateur/candid" look? I had no idea it would turn out like this when I started it but it fit surprisingly well so I guess she is now a character from the 80s in my head, lol.

All in all, I feel like this idea still deserved a better execution, technically speaking, but I did what I could, and I think it still looks pretty good. Plus I think this pic was basically responsible for me taking a  break since finishing it... its just exhausting to keep trying things and having nothing work, constantly getting stuck, over and over. This also means Im not sure if there will be a post next week because I dont have anything else left, so it depends on whether I finish something in the next few days., but Im really hoping that will be the case.
