Kujou Sara

This one came out of nowhere but it was basically due to me wanting to draw a character I hadnt drawn before while I kept working on my next pics of Yae and my au ra, to keep things from being too repetitive. So I started thinking about potential chars Id like to draw and I thought Sara was a good candidate, having a very different look with colors and hairstyle and such.

She is a character that in theory isnt exactly my type but I always have a thing for the serious/annoyed look and having seen some arts of her frowning and such I thought she looked super cute so I wanted to do something similar. Plus of course I used this chance to make her design more to my liking with the hairstyle and body type.

It did take me a while to get her expression just right, as always, because I didnt want her to look TOO angry, it was more of an annoyed "what are you looking at?" look. I think her eyes are some of the best Ive done, even though lips are usually my favorite part of the face.

I also had a hard time making up my mind when it came to her clothes. The obvious option  would be to draw her in the black one piece she wears underneath the rest of her outfit, but I wanted the breasts to be visible and her being a character from Inazuma, I though she would pull off the revealing kimono look and yeah, I was right. Then the other thing was deciding on the colors of the kimono. I tried an all black look and a black and white one which matched her default outfit, but in the end due to the warm colors I went with this soft green which I thought was really pleasant to look at, without stealing attention to itself.

Still on the colors I also added some extra gradient on both the hair and the mask which again makes them a lot more interesting to look at than a flat color. I just love gradients in general so Im always trying to fit them wherever I can.

I had a few final versions for this one as well, one darker and more moody, one with colder colors and more purple, but I kept coming back to this one and it was the one I enjoyed looking at the most for sure. I think the way I did the shading also makes it look a bit more anime than usual but without losing the feel of my usual style so Im actually really happy with it. In a way its a "generic" soranamae portrait but Ill never get tired of doing these.
