I was thinking of how to start this post and it reminded me of those interviews where the interviewer goes "Our guest needs no introductions", and then proceeds to read their entire biography anyway, lol.
In any case, Kei is one of the most regular characters around here so most should know her by now, although its been a while since the last one due to my breaks and all that.
So this time I wanted to do something very cozy and intimate unlike the last one which had an open background and more of an action feel to it in a way. The thing is I feel like Ive been stuck in a loop lately where I can only make things look good when I do backlit scenes (usually with the character in front of a window if its an indoor scene), so for this one I really wanted to avoid that and do something different. Didnt really matter what exactly, just getting out of my comfort zone was enough, and for sure at times I wasnt sure if I could make it look good so it was a bit of a struggle. Its so much harder to do interesting lighting when you dont have anything projecting light into the scene, but with my usual tricks I eventually managed and Im really happy with the result.
The colors are definitely one of the highlights here too and I spent a lot of time tweaking that as well, deciding whether I wanted them warmer or cooler and so on. But you really cant go wrong with anything around the purple spectrum, pinks and blues included.
As for the character itself we have been trying to find her "default" hair for a while and I think this is the one. Of course that wont stop me from playing around with it in different pics but this is what we will go back to, like how I keep going back to the ponytail with mine.
I also brought back the striped socks from "Lakeland", thought they added to the cute vibe the pic already had, and the bits of purple also help.
And back on the topic of colors, I absolutely love her nails here, probably the best Ive done so you can expect to see more of this. Im always playing around with gradients and stuff but this time I decided to add the "french tip" as well (which strangely is just what natural nails look like anyway) and it just looks so good. I will never understand how so many artists put so little effort into them or some times not draw them at all.
Well, thats it for now. I was actually wondering if I wanted to do a halloween pic this year because I havent done one in a long time but I couldnt really think of anything, and forcing it would be stupid so I decided not to do anything. Ill just carry on doing the things I wanna do since I already have a million of them.
