Raphtalia
Added 2021-01-05 16:42:37 +0000 UTCA bit of a style change from the last one, not because I had planned it but it just came out that way due to some experimentation (and me not being happy with how it looked).
She is a pretty popular anime character so I imagine some people should know her, but for those who dont, it doesnt really matter... She is cute regardless which is the important part, lol.
This is of course based on the beach episode because I love her look there, both due to the clothes and the ponytail. And I was actually undecided for a while on whether to include the whole outfit or have her topless, but as soon as I started coloring it, it was obvious topless was the way to go. I think its probably because of the beach background making it look more "natural" so despite the full frontal nudity it still looks very innocent.
As for the character itself the only thing I changed was making her tail a bit bigger, because who doesnt like big fluffy tails? And I thought the idea of having the tail hug her lower body was super cute.
I always struggle with this kind of pic because I rely so much on lighting to make things look good and in a beach scene like this with no area in shadow, it becomes much harder to do my usual thing so I just went for a bright and vibrant look, more anime in a way.
I had a normal background going up until the end but since I wasnt happy with it, I started trying out things and for some reason I really liked this "framed" look, with the character going outside the edges of the frame. Its a bit more artsy I guess?
In terms of style the one from the previous pic is much more how I want my art to look like, with the intimate feel and the natural lighting, but considering how subjective art is I wouldnt be surprised if some people like this more. Either way no harm in having some variety and trying different things.
Anyway there it is, first pic of 2021. I think Ill be doing a bunch more "random" characters from anime/games next, and then I guess Ill throw in some commissions here and there when Im in the mood for that.

Awwww yes, what a wonderful and gorgeous picture of the precious Raphy ! :3 Obviously a big love for her body, the breast are perfect as always (nomnom aerolas ;p). But what i love even more, is the super cute look she has ; the pose, her expression and the bigger & fluffy tail surrounding her make it soooo much more adorable. Wich fit Raphtalia nicely. Amazing work Sora ! :D

The artsy framing gives it a postcard looking quality, which fits perfectly. I do also enjoy your more vibrant works, despite the lighting challenges you mentioned. Beryl in "Blue" for instance is a great example. You still get the emotion across very well. I like the way you presented the hands here - they work well with her overall posture and the little bracelets are a nice touch. Also, it's rather subtle, but the shading highlights on her skin gives it this slightly shiny "applied sunscreen" quality to it. It looks good on her and fits the scene really well. She's adorably cute!

I still remember from the anime how she went from well loli to grown woman and it was the best thing lol. She is soooooo cute in here despite her being topless it mixes well and makes her both sexy AND super cute. I like how her arms are done in a way that pushes out the boobs and kinda draws the attention there a bit.. Love the tail as well, soooo fluffy I wanna hug it lol. Her expression is another thing that gives to the overall feel of innocence. The BG is interesting (the framing). Its a bit different in terms of lighting and all that.. than usual but I still like it. Very nicely done. Looking forward to more random chars actually (commissions too).

And I do agree, although she is topless, it seamlessly blends in with the scene and doesn't feel forced or shoehorned in! Looking forward to a 2021 full of cute drawings! :)
