Quistis Trepe

Well, it was actually commissioned by Asha so you can thank her, else I dont know when I would have gotten to it, due to how many chars I wanna draw.
Anyway yeah, FF8 is my favorite FF and Quistis is my favorite female character from that, so this had to happen at some point. The big decision was whether to draw her in the SeeD uniform, or her combat outfit. And this actually led me to keep the sketch on hold for ages (over a month) because I just didnt know where to go with it, so I just worked on other stuff instead.
Eventually I finally decided that I wanted it to feel like the very start of the game, when she comes into the medical ward and you have the cutscene introducing her and all that. So I tried to do a background that would look just like those hallways in Balamb Garden, with the center of it being visible behind her.
As for her look, I tried to keep it very faithful to the original art, just adapted to my style. And of course, giving her a very confident/sassy expression.
Some people might notice I kept the outfit mostly untouched except for one small detail - I added a bit of teal green to the upper area of the chest behind the tie. I felt like it went so well with the rest of the colors and made everything pop, and Asha agreed so yeah I kept it.
For her hair I also messed a bit with the colors and did a yellow/orange gradient because hair gradients always look so good and make it way more interesting to look at.
Then you have the crossed legs which I knew I wanted from the start... Its just perfect for the teacher look. The big doubt originally was whether Id make it full body or not, but I liked this close up crop a lot more because it allows her to fill most of the screen, and I didnt care much for the boots she wears with this outfit, so this way I could get away with just leaving them out. This way you can imagine her wearing the boots or some heels or being barefoot or whatever youd prefer.
Anyway there you go, one more FF girl down, so next up its probably Rinoa, and then Rikku, whenever I figure out what I wanna do with those.

Its my fav FF so yes you should play it but only if youre into turn based combat and dont mind old outdated stuff like random encounters and all that, its a 22 year old game after all

I love her so much and you totally nailed her look so much. Especially glad you did her SeeD teacher outfit. 2020-07-06 15:54:35 +0000 UTCBefore anything. Fantastic job on the background. Anyone familiar with FFVIII will recognize it instantly. Once again, I'm impressed by the facial expression. She looks happy, playful a bit. I might even say that she looks a bit younger than we see her in game. I'd like to imagine that this is a photo made on the her graduation day of becoming a SeeD before the events of FFVIII. Knowing the background I can't help but enjoy the sense of vastness and the general feeling of futuristic elegance associated with this particular place. Quistis also reminds me that we could really use a whip wielding character in FFXIV, but then, I'm also a fan of a certain game franchise with some whip wielding characters of a certain bloodline so I might be biased here lol.

2020-07-05 15:25:30 +0000 UTCI only heard about this char from a friend who likes and played all FF games, so dont know much about her myself (didnt really play other FF games apart from FFXIII a bit (turn based combat is not really my thing) and FFXV. But yeah I do like her look and the glasses are not bad at all. She has that specific vibe in this with her pose and look and expression especially, kinda like a teacher lol and I do like the bare legs too haha. The eye colour... I like blue lol a lot, one of my favs. Oh and the colours in all of this etc. Her hair with the gradient, the outfit too and as I see you addded that teal and it really fits so good job. And the BG is blurry as usual but fitting with the colour and how it looks, I like it. Also interesting that it took you that long to decide but hey, finally here and I really like it I would say so very neat, 10/10
