Drowsy
Added 2020-01-14 16:33:56 +0000 UTCYep, its Claire again. Well, in truth its already been 2 months since I last did a pic of her but somehow it feels like it was just 2 weeks. Either way you can tell I really like her by how often Ive been drawing her, and I think most people do as well from how well the last pic was received.
So this time we went for something with nudity again although I tried to still keep a very cute and innocent vibe similar to the last one. I imagined the scene as her having just woken up and still having the sheets half wrapped around her and sort of "unaware" of the fact she is nude.
Oh and if you are familiar with ffxiv lore you might notice where she is... I thought it might not be too obvious from the general look of the room so I added the banner behind her just to make sure.
Anyway, I really love how this one turned out especially on the technical side, I think its some of the best shading Ive done and I wish every pic I did looked this good, but sadly I can only get this look when certain conditions are met (specific background and lighting, character colors, etc).
Ive also included a steps thing because I felt like it evolved a lot from flat colors to finished. At first it looked pretty messy and unfocused, the colors werent very consistent and it just wasnt pleasant to look at, which is something I try to have with every drawing. Fortunately as I added shadows and some more ambient colors and light it started to look way better, plus blurring the background a bit at the end to really make her pop helped as usual.
Oh, and I hope the sheet doesnt go unnoticed because I put a lot of effort into it. Usually I struggle with making them look good so this time I was like, ok lets take the time to figure this out. It was totally worth it because all the folds and highlights look great, almost like a velvet kind of texture. I hope I can replicate that in future drawings as well.

I like all of Claires drawings so far so its impossible to pick a favorite but shading wise this is one of the best Ive done overall and there are a few things I really love about it which you mostly mentioned, the skin being one of them and the breasts another Her having freckles is a plus and I always like adding them across the body, especially in certain areas like shoulders and the top of the chest, between the collarbones... Those "imperfections" always make the skin look more realistic, avoiding the flat/plastic look many people do

The softness of her body and the surrounding fabrics, lit by the warm light, makes everything look so cozy. I like how her pose settles with her arms propping her and her leg curled in, suggesting her recent slumber. The shy, or unaware, expression just won me over. Being in the center, I can't help but appreciate how her tummy and breasts align with the arrangement of pillows in the background, as far as soft things go. :) Maybe it's the tanlines that invoke a similar texture to that of the pillows. Given the cozy softness of the overall scene, the breasts in particular connect well. There's just this three-dimensionality to her body that makes her pop, shaded so well against the lighting. I can see you had fun detailing her skin with freckles, tiny moles, and even a few bright strokes indicating micro skin folds where her breasts begin near the armpits. Quite realistic! I know this is a 7 month old post, but I wanted to relay my appreciation of this work, given your recent work revisiting Claire.

I really love Claire a lot ! <3 She's suuuper cute in general and gorgeous :) Love the setting, both in light and the sheet are indeed extremely well done, giving such a "pinup/slice of life" atmosphere to the whole pic. Also i just love so much her body ; not just the sexy curves, but all the freckles are...unfff perfect for me ! :D
