Here is that Asha drawing I teased a few days ago. Well, I didnt say who it was but it was pretty obvious from the hairstyle and dark skin, etc.
This is a kind of pic Ive wanted to do for a long time, the upside down angle. I thought it was gonna give me a lot of trouble but everything went so smoothly it actually turned out to be one of the easiest ones Ive done lately.
There are a lot of reasons I like this type of scene, first being how close the "camera" is to the character, giving it a really intimate feel. Then as a result of that, and because the background is really far away in comparison, I can apply a heavy blur to it to make her stand out even more, and it all looks natural because thats exactly how both our vision and cameras work, since they can only focus on one thing at a time.
When I started coloring it I was also worried that this would be one of those that didnt live up to the expectations set by the sketch since the sketch itself looked so good. Fortunately with the character being Asha, my job was made that much easier, and I love the end result. Both her skin and hair color here are just gorgeous to look at and well, Im glad I made it a wallpaper.
Its gonna be really hard to top this so I guess Ill be happy if her next one is even of the same quality. It should be a winter/xmas themed pic, although I dont know what Im gonna do yet.
