So its about time I posted that Viera from the sketch.
I think this one turned out to be pretty special, and I tried a few new things with the lighting that I hadnt done before. If you remember the sketch, it didnt have any background at all because I had no idea if I was gonna do one (they didnt care if I did one or not). But since I always have trouble making things look interesting without a background I started playing around with it and well, it turned into this.
She was described as a "forest dwelling viera", so I was trying to capture the feel of the Fanow area, which is pretty much permanently dark because of the trees covering the sunlight.
My favorite part about it is definitely the way the light hits her hair and ears, and for the first time Im actually glad this was a viera instead of another race because the ears work so well here and actually enhance the composition by blocking the light and creating a great focus point.
Then as I said before I also added the tribal jewelry because I think it makes her a lot more interesting than if she was just naked, and fits the overall nature aesthetic.
Lastly I cant stress how much easier the improved/cleaner line art lately has made it for me to get the finished thing to look the way I want it to. Im not sure how noticeable it is but it really does have a huge influence on the overall look, and its a big reason as to why Ive been so happy with the last few drawings.
