Yep, more Kuro. You can tell she is one of the newest victims of commission addiction, lol.
For this one, the theme I was pitched was "east meets west", and I have to say I was a bit skeptical at first... "Will a cowboy hat and a kimono really match?". Well, they somehow did, and actually created a very unique/exotic look.
I also decided pretty early on I wanted her to have her eyes closed, because it drastically boosts the elegance factor, and it was just perfect for something like this.
For some reason (and I think the lighting also plays a part in it), I get vintage detective show vibes from this, and I really like that. The name then of course came from that, because then I decided to do a little wordplay with "Noir" and her name, since Kuro (japanese) = Black (english) = Noire (french). 300 IQ and all that.
Also, I actually did this one right after "Whispers in the Wind" so it was a bit weird doing something so similar twice with the kimono/yukata falling off and revealing the chest, etc. But since the characters and colors and everything overall is so different its not really a problem.
As for the sketch, you can probably guess which character that is, even without the colors. Ive been wanting to do this kind of upside down pic for a long time and it just so happened she also wanted something similar, so it was a perfect match kind of thing. I love a lot of things about it, but Ill leave it for when I post the full version so I actually have something to say, lol.
