Enoshima Junko

So this was a pretty unexpected one.

As you can guess from the character (if you know who it is) Ive been playing the Danganronpa games lately (and actually just finished the 3rd one last night), and I had the urge to draw Junko.

Now this is something that happens a lot when I play a game and I really like a character, but most of the time I end up not drawing them since I always have commissions to do and all that. This time though I had a pretty clear image of what I wanted in my head, and I thought it would be a pretty unique scene so I really had to draw it. On top of that Ive been wanting try out a more anime style for a while and its something I cant do with commissions since people are probably expecting a certain look when they commission me, so this was also a great chance to do that.

And thats definitely what Im most curious about when it comes to feedback this time, so make sure to leave a comment letting me know if you like this more or less than what I usually do (or if you have no preference, thats fine too). This was only my first try at it so Im still figuring out the best way to approach it, and of course I want to keep recognizable (as in, you know its mine as soon as you see it) rather than changing things too much.

I think Ill definitely do more of this anyway, whenever I feel it would fit the character/scene.

Lastly Ive also attached a process thing and the full version of the sketch since someone might want it.

The main difference youll notice here is how I dont blend the shadows or highlights (which is what gives it that anime look), and then how much the post processing adds to it at the end too with the blur and glow (although I might have overdone the blur a bit, I have to be more careful next time). The blood splatter in the background looked super distracting while coloring so I actually turned it off for most of it, but I knew they would look good once blurred so yeah. Here I left it on on purpose just to show how important the background blur is at the end, bringing the character into focus.

Anyway this is turning into a wall of text so if you read this far, yay. Also from what Ive seen Patreon is fixed now so you should be able to right click open every pic in full size on the browser now. But if any problem happens again just let me know and Ill provide an outside link like last time.

I dont know what it is but I always seem to attract people with mental issues (depression being the most common one), I wonder if there is a connection between those kinds of people and the sensibility required to appreciate what I do in art, especially with body language and such Anyway, you guessed right, sinister is definitely a good way to describe her, and considering you dont know anything about it, it means I did a good job getting it across I actually wanted to talk about that in the post but it was so long already I left it out, but I wanted to make sure her smile was definitely not that of someone innocent Capturing the personality of a character is always one of the fun parts anyway (next to getting the look just right)

I never played it, looked interesting, but not as interesting as much else... I don't know... Anyway, what can I say here... (Also, I'm sorry if I haven't commented too much... Depressed and trying to focus on something is hard. Also, Viera faces are odd, no matter how cute they are. Maybe that's just me...) So, I love the look of her. I love the implied shadowy nature and where the shadows fall on her body. It increases the appeal and it makes more features just...pop. Her eyes, her body, her expression, it all looks amazing. So, as I know nothing about it, I feel she has a cute, yet sinister nature behind her... As well as with that sly and guile looking smile. She looks amazing, the slight glance of her silky bra adds to the imagination, as well as the bear protecting the window of her especially short skirt. But that's anime for you... I think you made her better looking, but I still love your art more than most. Even from the original games. I'm not sure what else to say. Your art is amazing. (I still need to make a commission when I am able to...)

Watching netflix while gaming? Youre doing it wrong! (unless youre just grinding in an mmo then its ok) For single player/story games, gotta focus completely on the game for the most immersive experience Im glad you like the style, and Ill do definitely do more of it in the future

I've only play 1-2 hours of the first game...it looks super interesting but it feels like you need to be really focus on the game....so that's why i stopped, i need to be 100% in it, not half-sleeping and/or watching netflix while gaming. XD Really happy to see you try something a bit different ! It's always cool for an artist to get out of your comfy/usual zone. ^^ Glad you did/got the time for, and i'm sure anyone who love your art will be happy too ! I love how the art is different from your usual work but still keep your touch...like as always i'm hypnotize by the face (those eyes, dem lips, oooffff). Cool work on the light and shadows, i like your animish style here, and i do hope you'll do more in this style (either be com or personal work :p). Dope as usual Sora ! <3

I hope I get to more of it, it helps a lot as an artist to have more to pick from since I often get tired of my own stuff (which is what led to the big break earlier this summer)

Cute girls in general work I think, doesnt matter where they are from, but I think ffxiv will probably be my main thing until it dies

Soranamae

The style is distinctly different to what we're used to; but not in a bad way by any means. It is still very much yours, as some have already said. I like it. Look forward to more style exploration! Even if I don't know the characters, pretty art is pretty, and that's why I'm here! ♥

This is a really neat style! It's be cool to see more images like it in the future. A mix of other stuff and cute FFXIV girls would be great! (But I am partial to the cute FFXIV girls :P)

You should probably NOT research anything since everything about it is a spoiler (including this pic, but I couldnt really avoid that) and its best played completely blind like I did Curious to see if people will want stuff like this indeed once I post it everywhere, but for now its probably gonna be something rare I only do once in a while

Soranamae

Glad you decided to pledge, people might not realize it but its thanks to all the patrons I can do stuff like this instead of another ffxiv commission, and the bigger the patreon gets the more I can experiment and do what I want instead of being restricted to what others want me to do In this case as you said its not that big of a change really and you can see all the key things youre used to with my art (the way I draw faces, how I pose the character, and so on), but its definitely refreshing to have a different overall look, and Im really happy with it I think a big chunk of my "fanbase" is into anime and japanese culture so I wouldnt be surprised if I do get requests for something in this style, though I do need to practice it more to get really comfortable with it, so the next few pics Ill be going back to the usual stuff

I know this character a bit from some research since I do want to play this game and damn, you made it good. This has a bit different feel to your usual style but I can defo tell its still YOURS, with the specific things that don't change (and thats good lol). Happy to see that you finally did what you wanted to lol and I think it turned out reaaaally good even though I do like your usual style a bit more, I love this as well almost equally. I also do hope some people request this style if you will also agree with them because I wanna see more art done this way from you lol. Good job on this, unexpected and I approve of this a lot

Hi, new patron here. Have been a long time fan of your work for quite a while now. I think some of an artist's best work comes when they are given the right amount of creative freedom. This is a great example. In this piece, we can see you changing from what we/you are used to, into something you want to try out more. I think you hit the mark here. I'm sure many of us can tell this is your work, but it has that different feel to it and I feel it's quite good. I think from this point forward you may potentially have new commissions requesting this sort of style as well, so hopefully that will aid in your urge to do more in this way. I'm glad you are doing something because you want to do it.
