So here is the finished version of that sketch! I have a lot to say about it so prepare for wall of text.
I worked really hard on this one because I felt the last few were all kinda underwhelming in one way or another and I hadnt really been happy with a drawing of her since "Vanity" or so.
Ive been wanting to try a reflection pic for a while, but its actually really hard since not only do you have to draw the character twice, its kind of impossible to know what the reflection would look like unless you have a reference for it. In this case reflecting only the top half helped a lot of course, and if I had to reflect the whole body I probably wouldnt have it done it. That said the great thing about is you get to see pretty much all of her, both front and back, so its definitely worthwhile.
Then for the scene I also wanted to do a sort of "Shrine" sequel, since thats one of my most popular pics and I love the feel it has, with the candles and all that.
Of course I did a process thingy for this one, so here it is. Its not the most interesting one, but I do like the flat color step a lot (2nd pic). You can see I was going in a different direction there with the colors, with the clothes being darker and the background being more subdued.
That said Ive been wanting to try more vibrant colors on her pics rather than just the usual pink and white, so thats what motivated the change. So I changed the pillows to a nice red then added the candles being reflected on the window, which gave me an excuse to do a warm highlight along her body, just like with "Shrine".
I did think of the raining outside/wet glass thing early on, which was another thing I hadnt done before and I love how it turned out so you will be seeing more of it. Its one of those things that fits the mood I try to create so well.
Oh and as you can see I added new sleeves and socks to the usual underwear I give her. I think they add a lot to it and complete the whole look, so they might become a default thing in the future.
Lastly as I mentioned before, because I basically had to color and shade the reflection in full detail before blurring and fading it a bit (and because I love the breasts so much there) I felt like it would be a huge waste to not do something else with it. So after I finished this I went back to the PSD file, took the reflection layers out and turned it into its own portrait, which Ive been using as avatar since.
I considered just including that in this post but I might like it even more than this, plus I changed it quite a bit so I think it deserves its own post instead. So yeah Ill post it later in the month.
Well thats it, I hope people enjoy seeing more of her.
