2025-11-11 07:41:25 +0000 UTCThese last episodes with Mustang also showed how incredibly powerful his Flame Alchemy actually is. It's easy to play it down in this world where so many crazy powers exist, easy to just see it as: "Yeah, he can shoot fire, he's a fire bender or something." But the way he can use and uses it. He can, with just a snap of his fingers, in the blink of an eye, incinerate an area of his choosing with pin point accuracy, which barely costs him any stamina. Most other Alchemists, need to touch someone/something to affect them/it which, in battle, are valuable seconds. Like Envy realized last episode, he is the one who incinerated Lust to death, he is able to continually attack homunculi in a way they can't really fight back and keep it up to completely exhaust their regenerative powers, keeping them trapped in a cycle of regeneration and death, and the way he handled the artificial soldiers makes me believe he could do that with multiple homunculi at once. Even people like Ed, Al, Scar, Olivia struggle to fight one or even two at a time and need tactic and tricks, all Mustang needs is to know they are there. We saw him shoot his flames around corners when he fought the soldiers from central. The only things we saw actively stopping him so far were gluttony just eating his flames and rain. Put him up against Sloth with him having the upper hand and he could probably easily handle Sloth as well. Probably even Wrath, but I am quite sure that Wrath would power through the pain and just slice Mustang up while burning, can't imagine Wrath stunned and screaing that it hurts like Envy and Gluttony would do. I think most of the time Mustang is just holding back, being naive, like Havoc said in the hospital, that's probably what would make him lose against Pride as well. But Envy got him to completely let loose and the hellfire that ensued was terrifying. In light of all that, I firmly believe, that Mustang is the strongest purely human being in Amestris right now.
