QT mentioned the Appalachian mountains they aren't haunted but the families in it are the most dangerous in the world. My family settled and held letcher county Kentucky since the 1700's the region is still remote because roads were never built and the government never effectively entered the region. James Caudill wiped out thousands of natives and they killed anyone who entered the region to this day. Even during the civil war the Cumberland militia fought the north and south. I even as a Caudill myself would never travel to the region. They capture and kill backpackers for fun unfortunately my grandpa would joke about it like it was a game.
