“Failed to reconcile her love with her conceptions of how the younger generation should be” - that’s a brilliant way of saying it! 👏

Love that you shared all this with us! 😍 and yay for Mira fans 😃

If those Supergirl sleeves have thumb loops that are just slightly too short I think I got the same costume lol. But seriously, I was a RWBY fan and came back just for this, and I loved this. On my 5th watch by now probably, Celine (the aunt figure) feels like the Denethor of the story as a tragic figure who ultimately failed to reconcile her love and her conceptions of how the subsequent generation ought to be. Her love mixed with rejection made me identify so much with Rumi. The "why couldn't you love all of me?" was pretty rough.

Finally, I've been waiting for you guys to react to that movie forever)))) It's awesome, thank you)) First of, thank you, I thought I was the only one whose favourit character was Mira the redheaded badass. I knew you guys'd like her. I sure hope in the sequel, which is all but certain at this point, they dive deeper into her backstory and character. To be fair, I would want the same for Zoey, but Mira is definitely my favorite) Some fun facts that I learned: 1. It has been officially confirmed that the tiger's name is Derpy (yup), and the magpie's name is Sussie. Derpy is confirmed to be male. Also, I believe they were stated to actually not be demons (the only non-human and non-demon charaters in the film). I suppose they're more like spirits. 2. According the movie's wiki, Rumi and Mira are both about 23 or 24 years old, with Rumi being six months older, so she's like the eldest sister of the trio. Zoey is the maknae, the youngest, she's around 21. 3. Some YouTube creators metioned an idea that the Honmoon might as well actually exist in real life, powered by the adoration and elation the music fans experience listening to their idols. The host of the channel "CinemaWins" even jokes that "Sabrina Carpenter has clearly been saving us from evil". Second, it adds to an experience when you speak several languages) In my case, besides English, I'm fluent in Russian and Hebrew, and decent in Ukrainian, so I basically watched the movie dubbed in all those languages. Ukrainian dub, unfortunately, didn't dub the songs, only spoken lines (though Ukrainian fans have already made covers), but in Russian and Hebrew they did an amazing job in translating and adapting, preserving the message and the quality of the lyrcis. The names of the songs, though, got somewhat changed in translation: How It's Done / What We Got / Dun-dun-dun (as in, a sound effect) Golden / Golden / Golden (variations) Soda Pop / Little Elixir / Perfect Drink Takedown / Razgrom (Russian word that doesn't have a precise translation, means something like "utter defeat" or "utter destruction", so it fits) / To Fall Free / Freedom / Trust In Me Your Idol / Your Idol / Bow To The Idol What It Sounds Like / My Heart's Call / This Is Our Voice And third, I think that the songs are the best part of this movie. My top from least favourite to most goes like this: 7. "Takedown" - It's not that it's bad, but this song really didn't do anything for me, it feels like a polt device to self-sabotage for the main charaters. 6. "Soda Pop" - It was intentionally written to be an "annoyingly catchy" and "infectious", as Rumi and Mira put it respectively, earworm, memorable but rather hollow. So it does a good job with that. To be fair, the lyrics are kinda suggestive, both sexually, and hinting at the demons' true intentions to harvest souls. 5. "Free" - An incredible ballad, different from most songs, but still beautiful and telling a really cute love story as it were. 4. "Your Idol" - it's really good. And this time, the boys tell the crowd exactly who they are and what are they going to do - to give up their souls, to become forever lost for their idol (Gwi-Ma the demon king), etc. 3. "Golden" - the ultimate hit in real life, this is the song about what's best in the girls, their vision of perfection, inspiring both themsleves and the crowd to be the best they can be. 2. "How It's Done" - a killer introduction to the group, shocasing individual talents such as Zoey's rapping, Rumi being the vocal powerhouse, and Mira's moves (even though those mostly fighting moves :)). This song does an incredible job at showing up just how awesome Hunter/x is, basically from the perspective of their fans. 1. "What It Sounds Like" - Every lyric touches your very soul. It's not just about self-acceptance - it's about knowing that even "broken into a million peaces", you still have value, you're still capable, and that true friends will be there for you even when they are broken as well, allowing you all to heal with each other's help. And the ending? The part war the whole stadium is singing with them, powering them up in response to their song, and them LITERALLY DEFEATING THE BIG BAD WITH SONG?! I mean, come-freaking-on, what does this movie think it is)) Thanks for reading my runt, whoever did) This movie is so amazing I could help but write all of that)

Fine, I'll watch this movie again. Love this movie so much! :P Loves all the songs, the full playlist has been playing nonstop on my drive to work everyday since I seen this. IF I had to pick one Takedown, my favorite character is Zoey! Can't wait to see it in on the big screen this weekend. They're putting a singalong version in theaters for Halloween weekend! Got a Bobby costume together. :P There's 2 versions of Takedown, one sang by the singers for the movie and one sang by three members (out of 9) of the KPop group, TWICE (Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung). In the movie, it's the singers, TWICE's version is only used in the end credits as they showed it. And this video https://youtu.be/l8Dr7vzMSVE?si=H8hCowFIH568R3lo Some historical context for Jinu's betrayal of his family, 400 years ago, commoners weren't allowed in the palace courts, however musicians were. So when he was invited to join the palace you can see him leading his family into it, but they are stopped by the guards. They weren't allowed in and if Jinu tried to leave he would be defying the king's choice at the time and would have been charged for treason and would have gotten his family killed or imprisoned. It's why you see the mom holding back the sister because she understands that Jinu was forced to leave them. He got tricked into a faustian deal, and then for 400 years was gaslit into believing that he abandoned his family when in reality he was manipulated into a situation where he was forced into losing them. Plus as a fan of mythology was cool seeing some Korean folklore. And there were alot of nods to Korean folklore. 1. The shaman women you see in the more ancient times are called Moodang, and serve as spiritual mediums for contacting spirits and warding off evil. 2. Rumi's sword is a Sa-in Geom (Four Tiger Sword), a ritualistic sword forged in the Hour of the tiger, in the day of the tiger, in the month of the tiger, on the year of the tiger. Tigers were seen as divine beasts, and was thought to channel the energy of the Tiger into a sword used in rituals to ward off evil. 3. Mira's Glaive is called a Gaya Gokdo (Gaya Curved Blade). Gaya was a Kingdom that was in the South western area of the Korean Peninsula. 4. Zoey's blades are called Shin-kal (Divine knives). These blades the size of kitchen knives are used in Shaman rituals for various uses. 5. Saja boys is a Korean pun, as the word Saja is a homonym of both Lion and a psychopomp like the grim reaper in Korean. The black traditional outfit the Saja wear are the same outfit Juhsung Saja are described to be in. 6. While not explicitly named, a lot of the demons shown are those that appear in Korean folklore, like the Dokkaebi wielding clubs, the water dwelling Mulguishin (souls of drowned victims that become ghosts determined to share their fate by drowning others with them), and Mongdal Guishin (The faceless guishin). 7. The tiger and magpie are an homage to a popular Korean art motif called a Hojakdo, which showcase a derpy looking tiger and a magpie. Tigers as I said are regarded as divine beasts, and magpies are regarded as omens of good news and welcome guests. As such, the art are used as wards against evil and a magnet for good luck in a household.
