I get how Austin feels when he's talking about being nostalgic for a an understanding of the world that let you feel hope lmao, that's how I feel about the 90s when I was a kid. I do miss it, but obviously I could never now choose to ignore all the suffering and all the fucked shit that Ive come to be aware of over the years. That tinge of wistful sentiment is obviously never going to affect my views or advocacy, but it is a bitter pill to swallow when that privileged veneer of ignorance is necessarily stripped away. I was born & raised in Jacksonville,Florida. Not all parts of Florida are bad. There are a few cities that are good. Florida’s economy survives of taxes: sales tax, tourism taxes (if you go to a theme park, etc as a non state resident your ticket prices are higher than a state resident), additional digital sales tax on top of regular sales tax, and more. A lot of the states revenue comes from taxes from pretty much everywhere else except income, and more. The city I live in turned Blue in 2022 midterms.

About the Chappell convo, I think the internet hates hypocrisy above all else. It’s why the Cody Ko scandal stayed in the spotlight for so long, if some alpha dudebro slept with a 17 year old, that’s expected, when internet good guy does it and hides it, it’s a massive story. And from what I’m getting from a lot of discussions on Chappell is when she insists that she’s focused on the art and dislikes the fame aspect, then that opens her up to criticism when she does something that the internet perceives as not matching her values. Like looking down on soulless brand deals but having HOT TO GO in a Target commercial (something she probably didn’t choose herself). Or canceling a show to go to the VMAs which will increase her fame. I like Chappell’s music a lot, but I think being in the spotlight a little less would make her image better because people are starting to sour on seeing headlines about her where she always comes across as negative, because the positive things she says aren’t going to be newsworthy enough to spread outside her orbit. I hope she can reform the industry somewhat, but there are reasons that many celebs who’ve contributed to that haven’t been able to achieve it yet, and it has to be done intentionally if she wants to protect her mental health in the public sphere. Regular people don’t see the whole picture as I know QT has discussed before, the stalking, the financial reality, the verbal abuse, it just looks like a dream to most people, and a good PR team could help to show more of that whole picture to the general public instead if only hearing about her when she’s angry about something.
