I think we all share our opinions all the time, so I don’t think that’s me thinking I’m the moral authority on this, simply my opinion. I love QT, and I often relate to her a lot in the way she explains her grief bc it’s hard for people to understand. I’m not shaming her, i just disagree. Like people do on here all the time. Again, in a situation where someone is literally boarding a plane, I would not expect them to leave their family right there and show up for me. That’s just not something you think about in the moment when your world’s coming down. I pointed this out in the first place bc there’s obviously more to that story than that sliver she gave so wanted us to give her the benefit of the doubt. The over analysis isn’t needed

As QT said this friend was the first person she called meaning it was most likely her closest friend, she wasn’t there for QT at all (meaning she probably didnt even bother to call or message to see how QT was). I also think an important part of it is like theres a difference between someone blowing you off after you just lost a parent as young adult and someone blowing you off for a vacation (not even far away) when they are clearly not okay at all and you were the first person they reached out to. Not saying that friend is like an awful person but they 100% were a bad enough friend in that time for QT to justifiably cut them off.

2024-08-20 12:13:38 +0000 UTCAs a wine about it listener who has heard this before, QTs boyfriend at the time basically broke up with her because he couldn’t handle being with someone sad like how QT was right after and QT like defends him doing that almost, so I don’t think QT had like an unreasonable expectation from her friend here, if it was reasonable she would defend it like her with her ex (who was being a bit of a dick from the times she has told it on wine about it imo).

I'm probably Cherokee too & they're both from OK but everyone says they're Cherokee lol I identify with some Native culture because I visited family on their reservation growing up but that was in WA state (*hint* Twilight). My tribe doesn't even have reservations, therefore they have better living conditions. OK Natives contributed to chattel slavery & fought for the confederacy. Most if not all of my white ancestors didn't even do that

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a best friend of over half your life (at that point) to be there for you after your mom passes. I would've dropped the friend, too. In our dream, it’s a bit weirder though, the class that we’re missing a whole semester of is one that for some reason we know we’re neglecting, which makes it even more stressful. The one or two times we go to it, we can’t follow anything because we’re so behind, but we’re trying to pretend that it’s okay. I cannot tell you the euphoric feeling of waking up and remembering that I’m 26 and that it was just a dream.

Only increases as they start families, etc. I just think if my friend was actively getting on a flight for a pre-planned vacation, as she worded, the last thing I would do is expect them to drop all that for this moment. Canceling an upcoming trip like you said is another thing. Maybe it’s just a me thing but I like to be left alone in those times of trauma so I can process it in my own terms. And like I said, I give QT the benefit of the doubt bc there could be some additional context missing. But I pride myself in being a good friend, but you can’t always expect people to deliver in the same ways you do. You set yourself up for failure with those kind of expectations of people.

A trip is something that can be postponed, money can always be made later... being there for a friend is what I expect myself to do. It very much depends on what your priorities and expectations are, and there's definitely nothing wrong if you dont expect that from your friends. Where it ends up hurting is when your friends are not there for you the way you'd be there for them. At the end of the day, friendships are relationships and they go both ways, and I'd found that my closest friends are those that I know that would be there for me or have been there for me at times.

They counted opening an email as an impression/engagement. Doesn't matter if no one clicked, doesn't matter if someone just hit mark as read etc. An impression is just noise, it's completely meaningless data, telling you nothing of substance. Very frustrating whenver it's cited as a source for success.
