2025-10-08 23:21:27 +0000 UTCHoyo isn’t the first to do it and they are finding ways to not let characters die as games have a shelf life usually so as they expand their universe more and more they can bring back popular characters or tie it into older games that might spark interest in those games. If done well it can be extremely enjoyable for long term fans of the franchise, if done poorly it is a major let down.

2025-10-08 14:26:28 +0000 UTCThere’s also a lot of factions and followers of the aeons, here are some that were shown (explicitly or otherwise) The masked fools - Sparkle, the mask girl in the first trailer, is a member of this group. They are followers of the Aeon of Elation, whose main goals are to spread chaos and ‘joy’ across the universe in whatever way they feel. Self annihilators - Acheron, the woman focused on in the 2nd trailer is a self annihilator. Self annihilators are actually are part of this group against their will or by accident. They are the product of the aeon of nihility, a black hole like entity that believes all life is meaningless. Any worlds that the nihility happens to drift towards is erased from existence. Anyone who happens to survive nihility’s destruction turn into self annihilators, people who lose all meaning and reason to their existence. The family - the two angel like characters, robin and sunday, are members of the family. They follow the aeon of harmony, and work to spread their teachings across the universe. Teachings of togetherness and unity are the core principles of harmony. Their’s also a splinter group of the family that follow another aeon, but that’s a bit spoiler. Ten stonehearts - ten high ranking executives in the Interastral peace corporation, basically a galactic plutocratic government that follows the aeon of preservation, who helps to preserve the stability of the universe Xianzhou alliance - a group of flagships that follow the aeon of the Hunt. They are at war with the aeon of abundance. The aeon of abundance cursed the people of the xianzhou with long life spans, but that was only of the physical body, people who live long as a result of this curse lose their minds and go insane. The aeon of the hunt kills those cursed by the abundance and ultimately wishes to kill the aeon as well. The genius society - some of the greatest minds of the universe are invited to be a member of the genius society by the aeon of erudition (droid head as nicknamed by Herta in her trailer, since they’re a super computer turned aeon). They wish to unlock the secrets of knowledge and the universe. Lord Ravagers - the strongest followers of the aeon of destruction. They are the most prominent characters in the overarching plot of HSR, since each of them directly oppose another aeon, and seek to destroy the entire universe Garden of recollection - followers of the aeon of remembrance. They collect memories in the hope that their aeon can recreate the universe from them should the universe meets its inevitable destruction

2025-10-07 20:17:26 +0000 UTCAlso, as everyone else mentioned about the last one. That’s pretty much a video you were only supposed to see if you’re caught up in the story. Because all those people at the end are spoilers. Especially the pink haired girl who is once again based on a previously existing character from Honkai Impact 3rd. In fact, she is one of the most marketed characters and well beloved by the fandom. And you wouldn’t really know why unless you played Honkai Impact 3rd. Which brings up a question from me. I’ve been mentioning how some of these characters are based on previously existing ones from older Hoyoverse games. Some fans that have been around the company for a long time appreciate the callbacks and like seeing connections to previous games. Others think it’s stupid and that the games should stand on their own merits instead of using a popular title’s legacy to hold it up. I personally don’t really care and just go “Is that?” or “oh hey” whenever I notice the reference. What is your guys’ stance on Hoyoverse basically reusing characters from previous games and do you think it is clever or somewhat lazy? Like for Ken, I imagine it would be no different from his comics that already have a multiverse going on with multiples of the same heroes. Like all the different Supermans or Spider-men.

2025-10-07 17:44:56 +0000 UTCWell again, these type of lore videos are more relevant if you were the type of player to keep up with them in the game. And while there is a connection between these different planets. That’s more to do with the cosmology and us “trailblazing” through their problems. The stories between the each area is contained and don’t really connect until a limited timed event comes along and we see these characters from different planets interacting with each other. Now unlike Zenless Zone Zero, where you watching the character trailers and teasers separately actually kind of hurt your perception of the characters, Star Rail is a bit more out there what with the whole universe and how it all functions and affects these characters.
