Wow, so much emotion circling around this. I appreciate his statement defending his work and his teams though.

Thank you for all this info!

Tornado is 28, Saitama is 25 and Genos is 19. Tornado commented she was older than both of them when Genos said “brat” to her lol

Ahhh I can't wait for Season 2!! I get that many people frown upon Season 2 for lesser quality animation, but if you look past that Season 2 story-wise is actually REALLY GOOD, in fact I actually like it a tad bit over Season 1. And it'll also introduce one of my favorite antagonists in all of anime, who was subtly hinted at in one of the past episodes you guys watched. Definitely looking forward to next week!!

It's even nicer they didn't have to wait 6 years for season 3 lol

JT

It's so nice you guys don't have to wait for season 2 XD

So believe it or not, even though this seems like every other one-sided fight involving Saitama, one of the creators confirmed that Boros was so powerful that he was the first character to actually ever hurt/damage Saitama (even if slightly with light scratches and bruises), the first he acknowledged as "tough" before Boros powered up again and the first one who forced Saitama to adapt with his body's limit break physical adaptability (Saitama was still stronger but it wasn't a super massive gap like everyone else he fought). A character gets deep into the specifics of it's function later in the series but basically, when you have a super rare character like Boros who got close enough to do damage, Saitama's strength and speed will spontaneously skyrocket in the midst of battle so much that even a held back "serious punch" after the power boost was overkil. Like I said before Saitama has the equivalent of a passive Saiyan zenkai power boost except he doesn't need to be injured or near death for his power to skyrocket, he just does it because his body doesn't recognize the concept of what a "limitation" is anymore after his famous workout routine so it just does it without having to put in the work and his power level automatically leap frogs several steps up without effort Unlike other protagonists who need training arcs or plot items, Saitama's body will just go "nope, don't like that" whenever someone gives him more trouble than he's used to.

7:27 he said "I hope you like mince meat, freak!" 33:59 he said "Meteoric Burst" To answer your other question, Tatsumaki (Terrible Tornado) is 28 years old, making her 9 years older than Genos (19) and 3 years older than Saitama (25).

Not sure but atm guys the only way to watch the OVAs is to have the Cd/bluray :(((

The alien guy with multiple heads is voiced by the same voice actor as Broly. No wonder he sounds so good.

The guy metal bat is my favorite character

37:15 It's taken me way too long to finally catch the symbolism behind this little detail here. That "heartbeat' sound effect paired with this visual showed up back when Saitama was getting his elation from that dream fighting the Subterraneans. Boros finally got to experience the same feeling of elation after so many years.

JT

God, the Saitama vs Boros "fight" is still an absolute blast to watch even after all these years. It's a shame that a certain future fight in the series likely won't be able to get the same treatment since season 1's animation team was an all star lineup. Iykyk

Don’t know if you two have already begun season 2 on your end, but in case ya have, you’ve probably noticed that the art direction looks a bit different. This is because the One Punch Man anime was handed off to a different studio. Instead of being produced by Studio Madhouse (same studio that animated Frieren and Hellsing Ultimate btw) alongside some very talented freelance animators as season 1 was, season 2 was animated by J.C. Staff. A studio that isn’t quite as known for animating things as “elaborately” as Madhouse. I’ve also heard that season 2 had a smaller production budget and tighter production schedule than season 1 but I’m not 100% sure of the accuracy of that. This led to quite a bit of hatred for season 2 online. Having finally watched season 2 for myself after ya’ll started the show, I gotta say that I feel like the sentiment was sorta exaggerated. The drop in quality was definitely noticeable, but I don’t think it’s anywhere near the level that I had been hearing about from others back then. Season 3 is set to premiere in just a few weeks, and it seems that it’s already facing quite a bit of discourse. The director (Shinpei Nagai) has been over on Twitter trying to relieve people’s concerns to the best of his ability. A statement from him having been made recently as such: “No, I think I've come with the resolve and determination to carry the work that you all cherish so dearly. It might not please you or could even make you angry. But someone has to take it on. I am determined and ready to do so. It probably won't measure up to Season 1. But the anime is infused with the creators' tenacity and ingenuity. Please, at the very least, accept that. Nowadays, there are many companies flush with funding from big corporations. Much of the talent has been drawn to those places. But as I keep saying, I want to support JC Staff, which is working to improve labor conditions and nurture its employees. Please stop with the harassment and the persistent questions that I can't answer due to NDAs. I beg you, please.” Nagai also apparently decided to put out a public apology after his reveal as role of S3’s director due to believing that his lack of notoriety as an animator would leave a bad impression with fans. This comment is long as is, so I’ll just link his apology here: https://x.com/ShinNagai_Anime/status/1963081632606519329 All I can say about all this is that I hope season 3 will turn out fine. Not really expecting it to turn out like season 1 given everything that’s been said, but we’ll see what happens. Can’t say I envy any studio who gets tasked with adapting the One Punch Man manga. Kensuke Murata’s artwork would make any animator sweat.
