In my first playthrough I romanced Ashley; I would rank it an A or a B. Ashley's character arc is very good throughout the entire series. BTW, it is possible to save Captain Kirrahe. Congrats on finishing the first game.

Each one has a very different style towards levels, gameplay, writing, and storytelling, but they all feel...right. Because of the carryover system, the story all feels mostly connected and your Shepherd changes along with their closest companions. Each time I play through the games my favorite changes. And they are definitely side content heavy - they're meant to be played by doing all the side missions. They're not TRULY side missions, they're actually "main" missions in disguise if you want a good outcome (which is fine because you guys did pretty much everything in ME1 except for the DLC I think).

Saren's "Redemption" is famous in mass effect lore, the thing is he WAS a good guy at one point, even as twisted as that may seem. The problem was that Soveriegn's indoctrination was WAY too much for him, so much that he could not even see the pattern of him being a tool and bringing about the end of the galaxy, it took shepard to open his eyes and his first reaction (with some suggesting from shepard) was to blow his own brains out because of what he had done. Also some of the dialogue (looking at Ashley during the few final scenes) are universal, they are spoken by any party member that happens to fill that spot during the final mission, it all depends on who you bring on that mission. Also can we talk about how insanly powerful sovereign is?! (or 'was') like he was not only holding off you guys, but the combined citadel/alliance fleet at once!! he only 'died' because you managed to destroy Saren's husk; corrupting the signal that Sovereign used to control him and thus 'short circuting' the reaper and 'killing' him, so in other words: you managed to kill him at all because you got lucky, and that was just 1 reaper! there are hundreds or maybe even thousands coming!!! we are SO ff'ed.... so with that on you're mind; a word of advice on the next game: Don't expect it to be like old times... I'm commenting here before I get the chance to check it out, but skimming through the comments on here already, I know I'll enjoy the heck out of seeing the reaction to some of these ME ending scenes!

I think maybe at one point he felt like he was doing the right thing, but his actions aren't justified and tbh i felt more sympathy for liara's mother.

2025-09-11 18:57:59 +0000 UTCI’m so glad you guys picked Ashley over Kaidan, most people dislike Ash because she’s a “space racist” but I genuinely think she has the better story going forwards. A bit of advice for ME 2, in the character creator, take a deeper look at the classes and their abilities. The combat system gets a huge overhaul and some of the biotics work more like typical “magic”. I think you’ll really enjoy some of the biotic classes, especially Ken. Also Destiny 2 has recently revealed their next expansion after Edge of Fate - “Renegades”, inspired by Star Wars. There a trailer and Vidoc that you both might enjoy! Super looking forwards to the next episode!

Subsequent playthroughs i picked Kaidan and as im on PC used a mod to save them both! And look awesome in front of everyone lol.

I hope you guys continue engaging the way you were with this. Talking to the crew regularly, really getting into the themes and the story, having fun with the side content. I love that sorta stuff! Poor Kaiden, poor guy can’t even get chosen to save his life (literally) Bye bye Saren #restinpisswontbemissed The game’s combat changes a little bit (like how ammo works) in next games, but if you enjoyed this, you’ll enjoy the rest :)
