I don't think Goku is capable of holding more than a single thought at a time. So of course there won't be any negative ones floating around in there.

Peril Noodle

Love that concept that the damage is based on the maliciousness of the character!

Can’t wait for the next drop of episodes!

34:06 For the record, that mask the mysterious man is wearing is what's known as a kabuki mask. IIRC "kabuki masks" were never actually used in real life kabuki performances. A lot of pop culture just uses them to mimic the makeup that the actors would wear.

Ken totally called it, Goku is the most positive thinker ever

33:02 Perhaps it was just a result of translation practices being sketchy at the time, but this was a poor way to handle this gag. In Japanese, Devilman makes a pun by saying “What the devil?” “Get it?”. What they ended up going with is just awkward lol.

You have to remember tho in dragon ball if your more powerfull the opponent their haxs dont really effect you. Dragon ball logic power>haxs.

18:32 The detail of "nobody having ever gotten past Bandages the Mummy" is something that's only in the anime, so he wasn't necessarily meant to be the "strongest" of Baba's fighters. Though I suppose one could argue Baba would save Spike the Devilman for last because his Devilmite Beam is just that dangerous.

JT

BTW that whole bit with Goku being restrained by Bandages' .... well, bandages, was all padding lol. In the manga Goku just gets right back up and one shots the mummy. Same with the part where Goku's dangling on the bridge during his fight with Devilman.

In DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Spike the Devilman is a playable character and his ultimate move is his Devilmite Beam, and it’s one of the most elaborate moves in the game. The devs made it so that the Devilmite Beam deals damage proportionate to how “malicious” a character is. Pure heart characters such as Goku, Chi Chi, Arale, Android 8, Goten, and Nam will take no damage at all. Pure evil characters such as Janemba, Hirudegarn, Pure Evil Buu, and Spike the Devilman himself will take very severe damage. But what makes this detail truly interesting is the characters who fall in the “gray area” of the scale. To give a few examples: - Any Saiyans who are in the Super Saiyan form will end up taking more damage from the Devilmite Beam than their base forms, and that includes Goku. - Kid Gohan takes minor damage while Kid Goku doesn’t. Perhaps a reference to Gohan’s explosive anger, or maybe because Gohan was a bit more spoiled than Kid Goku. - Great Saiyaman 1 and 2 take less damage from the Devilmite Beam than Adult Gohan and Videl. Implying that they just happen to be feeling less “malicious” when they’re putting on their personas. If ya want to observe just how the entire roster measures, someone took the courtesy of testing it out here: https://youtu.be/NN0RH6pJYD8?si=Fm1zjJxjLenjCgmF I’m fully expecting DB Sparking Zero to receive an OGDB DLC pack at some point, but I’m highly doubtful that Devilman is gonna make it in. I just couldn’t imagine the devs wanting to undertake the same level of detail for an even bigger roster. I guess they could narrow things down by just making the Devilmite Beam take off a fixed percentage of HP for characters who would be considered impure.

Spike the Devil Man (aka Devilman in the sub and simply “Devil” in the manga) is one of the most underrated fighters within the franchise. Like Monster Carrot and his “carrot touch”, he’s not the most impressive in terms of raw power, but his Devilmite Beam is a technique that would theoretically defeat the likes of some of the most powerful characters under the right conditions. You know damn well it would be able to obliterate Frieza, Cell, Buu, and Zamasu. It might even be able to take out powerhouses such as Jiren or Beerus if it lands when they’re having “impure” thoughts.
