Oh interesting!

Bethany and Ken

Already posted it yesterday, but I’ll just post it here again cuz Pokémon. If you ever plan on seeing “Pokémon the First Movie” 1998, then you need to see the backstory of Mewtwo first. https://x.com/PokemonHttps/status/1837583166770680087/mediaViewer?currentTweet=1837583166770680087&currentTweetUser=PokemonHttps Even better if you would watch 7 certain episodes of the main anime before that to have better context. Episodes 1-5, then skip to 63 and 65

So this series takes place where Pokémon Legends Arceus is set. Right in the far off past where humans and Pokémon did not get along as well as you’ve seen in previous series. It’s a pretty interesting concept that hasn’t been tackled by Pokémon until that game. As far as animated mini series. It’s more something you watch for the outstanding visuals than stellar story. Actually, I think that can be applied for all of the mini series you’ve seen so far.

Nice little show! The Hisuian region takes place like hundreds of years before the other series you’ve watched, so it was in an era where people are still trying to understand Pokemon and view them as wild beasts. Complete opposite of the other shows you’ve seen where Pokemon are basically implemented into society and are best friends with people 😌

So that Zorua was blue rather than red because it's a shiny Pokemon. Shiny Pokemon are basically what albino humans are, rare and a different color. Extremely sought after by collectors.

If you didn't fanboy, I definitely would've.

Here's a little breakdown for you! There's quite a bit to go over here, sorry if it's overwhelming. Hisuian is pronounced hiss-oo-ee-an. The region this takes place in is the Hisui Region, so any unique Pokemon native to the region would be considered Hisuian Pokemon. This series is based on the game Pokemon Legends Arceus, which takes place roughly 300 years before the Pokemon world's modern day. The Hisui Region would later go on to be renamed to the Sinnoh Region, where the fourth generation games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl take place. It's pretty amazing to see a developing Pokemon world, where the relationship between people and Pokemon is still developing, and many people still fear Pokemon as dangerous beasts as opposed to the friends they're seen as today. The little Pokemon is called Zorua, and it's evolved form is Zoroark. In other regions, they're dark type tricksters, very elusive and mischievous. However, in Hisui's early days they were seen as dangerous for their illusory abilities, and were scorned and hunted down, leading to them becoming ghosts, or so the story goes. Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark are regional variants, meaning they've adapted to better suit their new environment in a different region. Adapting into becoming violent ghost types might have been a result of their treatment, but it could also be because becoming ghosts allowed them to adapt to a much colder and harsher landscape - white fur helps them blend into snow and ghostly powers would push their illusions to new levels. It's left intentionally vague as to the true origin of their new powers, which is fun to speculate on. In the modern day, this Hisuian variant seems to have mostly died out, quite sadly. While other Hisuian pokemon have been seen very rarely, quite often endangered and in protective care, we've sadly never seen a modern day Hisuian Zoroark. Another note, this might be your first encounter with a shiny Pokemon! The little Zorua had black fur with blue accents, however Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark are normally white and red. This Zorua is shiny, meaning due to a very rare genetic mutation, it has a different colour to other members of it's species. Next, those cracks in the sky, creating big storms and dark bubbles. These are Space-Time Distortions. These are a pretty big plot point of Legends: Arceus, that these distortions are opening up, sending Pokemon into frenzies and transporting Pokemon that don't exist yet backward in time. I'd imagine being sent a few hundred years in the past would make you pretty cranky. Heck, in Legends Arceus, we even meet a few People who have been thrown back in time without their memories to accompany them. And lastly, that huge, violent Pokemon - Garchomp. It's essentially a land shark dragon - and perhaps one of the most dangerous Pokemon around. It can run bipedaly at high speed, burrow through the earth, has razor sharp teeth and claws - and for some godforsaken reason can FLY. Worse yet, this one is an Alpha Pokemon, meaning it's double the size of a normal Garchomp and even more violent. And even yet, an apex predator like this one, while thrown into a frenzy, froze and retreated at the mere sight of a Zoroark. Goes to show how scary that baleful fox is, huh?
