What?! You don't watch us for our amazing, awesome, totally expert gameplay 😉

Unaware but will check it out. I mentioned in an earlier post about how Ken and I used to watch all the acting awards shows but don't anymore. One because we don't get to watch as many movies/TV shows to have any skin in the game in terms of who wins, but also because it feels disingenuous somehow, if that makes sense? People campaign now for their film to win awards versus the Academy just watching them all and making the choice, so feels more like a political election than an actual acknowledgement of passionate art.

Thanks for these reminders!

Kinda feels like awards shows have become a reason for people to get angry/outraged. Ken and I used to watch a ton of the acting awards shows but basically don't watch any of them anymore. The reality is, whatever wins an award doesn't mean it has to be the best to any of us as individuals or that our preference, if different, is somehow "wrong" or automatically tasteless. Rather public awards are an acknowledgement of exactly what you said, the work and passion that went into the art and the broad effect it had on audiences. And if you agree with it great, if not great.

Oh yeah, so a little update on the contenders for GOTY this year since things have changed a bit since I last discussed 'em. DK Bananza was starting to show some promise when critic reviews first dropped, but now it's odds appear to be slightly higher than Split Fiction's. Here what the Metacritic stats are looking like for the three frontrunners at this time: Clair Obscur Expedition 33: Score of 93 with 84 critic reviews Split Fiction: Score of 91 with 111 critic reviews Donkey Kong Bananza: Score of 91 with 136 critic reviews Given this, the higher number of reviews for Split Fiction and DK Bananza suggest that they could come out on top despite their lower scores. That's what happened between RDR2 and GoW 2018. Clair Obscur has been getting near universal praise. but online reception of a game isn't really a reliable means of measuring what will get nominated on Keighley's show. TLOU 2 had people.... well, you know by now, but it still won GOTY, best narrative, and gave Laura Bailey the aware for best performance. Personally, I couldn't give less of a shit which one wins between these three. They're all damn good games that had a lot of effort and passion behind them that deserve recognition. My only real prediction is that a lot of people will be angry at the winner when they shouldn't be. Mfs be putting way too much stock into Keighley's show, as if the opinion of a jury of just over 100 people should count as the official "best game".

1:42:45 Interesting. In It Takes Two, optional content came in the form of really short mini games that had the two players compete against each other in different ways that didn't affect the plot in any way. Having not played/watched Split Fiction myself, it looks like these Side Stories might have a touch more impact on the story (I'm guessing). If the rest of 'em are even half as entertaining as that pig one, I'm excited lol.

Just gonna reshare these while since we're dealing with Hazelight Studios: It Takes Two Trailers: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7Wq-naHdAIUBfv-mYN8IX28iFaZygF-x&si=tWEUNxIxF95fI-I4 Brother A Tale of Two Sons Trailers: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7Wq-naHdAIVf7JeJiv9JNx7d6mxAsCUf&si=znPElauE8Mr9yNBQ While the remake of this game did add in a co-op mode, this one was initially designed as being single player first and foremost. You control each character at the same time by using the two analog stick (left stick for one brother and the right stick for the other).

While the only game of his that I've been able to play for myself is Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Josef Fares (founder of Hazelight Studios and director for their games) is one of my favorite directors in the gaming industry. Guy's got nothing but the upmost faith in his team and video games as a means for creating the most impactful experiences possible. Won't lie, a lot of guys with his type of personality kinda annoy me but his ability to put out quality work and his self awareness make him a lot more likeable. Don't know if either of you two are privy to any of the man's past.. antics... but in case you aren't, I'll just leave ya with this. It's pretty much a summary as to why I find Fares is so awesome. Fuck the Oscars btw https://youtu.be/W9APWBOSPHI?si=_lkYagIC81f65abc

Guess I'll just stick alongside ya'll for this one. Don't have anyone to play with me and trying to coordinate things with an Internet rando doesn't sit right with me. Won't lie I typically don’t watch you two for the gameplay, but if this game works anything like It Takes Two then I foresee this being pretty entertaining lol.
