Aw, love Hawkeye so love this!

Bethany and Ken

Ken says, "I could see that!" while I [Beth] still haven't seen A Clockwork Orange (a movie I very much want to see but have not gotten around to yet)

😂

Thank you for this information, super helpful to have the reminder of the state alchemists we have met and their alchemist names!

Bethany and Ken

Yep, this definitely smelled like a setup episode, so I'm pretty confident we might see some explosive moments in the coming episodes

Kimblee (white suit evil guy) was a State Alchemist. His title in the show is the Crimson Alchemist, although I believe in the manga it was the Crimson Lotus Alchemist. For the State Alchemists we've met: Edward: The Fullmetal Alchemist Mustang: The Flame Alchemist Kimblee: The Crimson / Crimson Lotus Alchemist Armstrong: The Strong-Arm Alchemist Shao Tucker: The Sewing Life Alchemist (episode 4, killed by Scar) Tim Marcoh: The Crystal Alchemist Isaac McDougal: The Freezing Alchemist (1st episode, killed by Bradley) Basque Grande: The Iron Blood Alchemist (3rd episode, killed by Scar) Gioloio Comanche: The Silver Alchemist (episode 15, killed by Scar) Other alchemists we know about but aren't State Alchemists: Berthold Hawkeye (Hawkeye's father, Mustang's teacher, creator of Flame Alchemy, deceased due to illness) Izumi Curtis (Ed and Al's teacher, ill due to her missing internal organs from her Human Transmutation) Van Hohenheim (Ed and Al's father) Scar Mei Chang (technically an alkehestrist, not an alchemist) Father (leader of the Homunculi) Despite what Scar said about it being easier to travel if Marcoh's face was unrecognizable (which is true), he also did punish Marcoh a bit there for his role in creating the Stone and killing the Ishvalans to do so - including Scar's brother, indirectly, since Marcoh said the Stone he made was the one given to Kimblee. Kimblee was the one who attacked Scar's family. Yes, Scar's brother died from giving Scar his arm, but he wouldn't have had to do that if Kimblee hadn't attacked them. So, it's an insidious little circle linking them together. Others have mentioned it, and Ken called it out, but this show is incredibly good at weaving characters, plot, and foreshadowing together just enough to answer some questions while raising a dozen more with every answer they give you.

Not sure if someone’s mentioned it, but Mustang using the brothel as a way to secretly call others is part of his “facade”. He and Ed both disguise their notes and actions (somewhat). Ed keeps a “travel log” that he used to disguise notes, whereas I believe Mustang’s a record of women he’s been with. That and the brothel phone lead people to believe he’s a womanizer. Plus to be fair, it seems pretty effective. Would you wanna spy on a guy if you thought he was going to get laid? 😆

Fun Fact: The creator/mangaka (Hiromu Arakawa) based Kimblee off of Alex from 'A Clockwork Orange' and designed him in all white clothes because she thinks "people in white suits always have this sleazy look on their faces".

The guy that Madam Christmas called is General Grummond. He was Mustang's superior/mentor and the man who told Mustang he could trust/go to the other General (the one that brought Mustang in front of Wrath and the other high ranking officers). So let that information tickle your brains on if you can trust Grummond or not 🧐 Also, Kimblee is Chekhov's Alchemist. A surprise tool we'll use for later 😁 There's so much stuff that this show introduces, hints at, or hides in between the lines that ends up coming up later. Part of what makes FMAB so special

So the guy Madam Christmas called is General Grumman. Mustang worked under him and he mentored Mustang. It’s never revealed in the anime but in manga bonus material it’s confirmed that Grumman is Hawkeye’s maternal grandfather, which is probably why Mustang trusts him. There’s even a manga scene where he asks Mustang if he plans on making his granddaughter the future First Lady.

Just some guy
