Oh man, thank you! I read Tokyo Vice years and years ago and couldn't remember the title, but it jumped out at me because he mentioned his elementary school…which was the one I went to.

But overall it suffers from severe anime syndrome, which is what I call it when an anime series that starts off AMAZING becomes so convoluted by the end and that you’re barely still hanging on for the ride. You’re still definitely there tho! I’m mean it’s only 24 episodes long, the artwork is fucking amazing, and it was really great in the beginning, so the wacky insane last half where the main bad guy is the school presidents mother, and she’s kind of like, bad touching her daughter, you know? Just sort of try to look past that part even though it’s deeply uncomfortable and they focus way too much on it in this one spanking scene that goes on for too long; but regardless of that!: The mom has a freaking awesome character design. She reminds me a lot of Sharon Apple from Macross plus. Macross Plus: not a great anime, but a highlight is that it has a very randomly placed aphex twin poster/add for AFX’s Analog Bubble Bath pop up on a screen for like half a second (to this day, I still don’t know why its in the anime but I don’t care), awesome music, incredible visuals, really great robot fights, I liked the art a lot for the time which was in line with a lot of the very 90s stylized heavy line weight stuff, but the storyline is just.. yeesh. that wall of text got away from me a little bit
